Leveling

After connecting your trailer and parking on level ground, access the setup menu to perform the leveling procedure. This ensures the controller accurately senses vehicle deceleration for optimal braking performance, especially on inclines or declines.

Language and Brightness

Navigate through the setup menu to adjust the display language (e.g., English) and screen brightness (e.g., 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) to your preference.

Standby Time

In the setup menu, you can set the standby time for the display to 1, 3, or 5 minutes. This controls how long the screen remains active before entering a sleep mode to conserve power.

Operating the Brake Controller

Output (Gain) Control

The Output (Gain) Control establishes the maximum amount of power available to the trailer brakes. As the gain is increased, more power will be available to the brakes when the brake pedal is pressed or the manual control is used. The gain setting is shown on the digital display when a trailer is connected and the brake pedal is actuated. Adjust the gain from 0 (minimum) to 10 (maximum) based on your trailer load and road conditions.

Sync Control

The Sync Control adjusts trailer brake aggressiveness. The trailer brakes become more aggressive as the Sync '+' button is pressed. To view the Sync setting on the display, press the brake pedal (trailer must be connected) and press either the '+' or '-' Sync button. The display will change to the Sync mode. The Sync setting is shown as 0 (least aggressive) through 9 (most aggressive). The Sync adjustment has no effect on the Manual Control.

Boost Feature

The Boost feature provides up to three levels of additional stopping power (B1, B2, B3) at the touch of a button. This is particularly useful when hauling heavier loads or when more aggressive braking is desired. The display will indicate the selected boost level.

Manual Braking

If you need to manually apply the brakes, simply move the manual control lever to the left. The Prodigy P3 will apply power to your trailer’s brakes up to the amount of power previously set by the gain control. This can be used to correct trailer sway or for gradual braking without using the tow vehicle's brakes.
