Introduction
The Weider Total Body Works 5000 Gym is a versatile home fitness system designed to provide a full-body workout. It utilizes body weight resistance and includes additional resistance bands for increased intensity. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective use of your equipment.
Key Features
- Full-body gym offers over 50 body-shaping exercises that strengthen and build muscle flexibility.
- Four adjustable power bands for up to 50 pounds of additional resistance.
- Unrestricted cable and pulley system provides versatility and great range of motion.
- Space-saving design with convenient slide-away technology for quick and easy storage.
Setup and Assembly
The Weider Total Body Works 5000 Gym comes mostly pre-assembled. Follow these steps for final setup:
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all parts are present.
- Attach T-foot: Secure the T-foot to the main frame using the three provided nut/hex-bolts. A 1/2" wrench or socket set is recommended for tightening these nyloc nuts with split washers.
- Install Foam Pads: Slide the two foam pads onto the designated bars.
- Remove Plastic: Remove any protective plastic film from the vinyl-padded board.
- Extend the Gym: Before setting the height, ensure the gym is fully extended. This allows the board to slide freely.
- Set Height: Extend the remaining foot to set the desired height. There are 8 height settings. It is recommended to set the height while the gym is on its side to prevent injury from the pull-pin.
- Check Bolts: Verify that all screws and bolts, including those pre-installed, are securely fastened.
Important: The main frame is heavy. Assistance from another person is recommended for moving and initial setup.

Operating Your Weider Total Body Works 5000 Gym
Adjusting Resistance
The gym uses your body weight for resistance. The incline angle of the glide board directly affects the resistance level.
- To increase resistance, raise the incline of the glide board.
- To decrease resistance, lower the incline of the glide board.
Additionally, four adjustable power bands are provided. Each band adds approximately 10 pounds of resistance, allowing for up to 50 pounds of additional resistance. To attach or detach a band, slide its end into the designated slot on the frame.
Performing Exercises
The unrestricted cable and pulley system allows for a wide range of motion and versatility. A wall chart illustrating various exercises is typically included with the product.
General Use Tips:
- Ensure the machine is stable and on a level surface before beginning any exercise.
- Maintain proper form throughout each exercise to maximize effectiveness and prevent injury.
- Start with a lower incline and fewer resistance bands, gradually increasing as your strength improves.
- The L-shaped pins are used to attach or remove the handlebar and foot plate. These pins can be stored in the frame when not in use.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your gym.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a small amount of lubricant to the glide board rollers and rails to ensure smooth movement and reduce noise.
- Bolt Tightness: Regularly check and tighten all nuts and bolts, especially those on the T-foot and adjustable leg, to maintain stability.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the frame and padded surfaces with a damp cloth after each use to remove sweat and dirt. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
- Inspect Components: Periodically inspect cables, pulleys, resistance bands, and foam pads for signs of wear or damage. Replace any worn or damaged parts immediately.
- Floor Protection: Consider placing a protective mat underneath the gym to prevent scratches on flooring, as some parts (like pulley bolts or foot plate sockets) may contact the floor.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
- Squeaking/Rough Gliding: This is often due to dry rollers or rails. Apply lubricant as described in the Maintenance section.
- Instability/Wobbling: Ensure all assembly bolts are securely tightened. Check that the gym is on a flat, level surface.
- Difficulty Adjusting Height: If the pull-pin for height adjustment is stiff, ensure the gym is fully extended and try wiggling the frame slightly while pulling the pin. A small amount of grease on the pin tip can also help.
- Damaged Foam Pads/Vinyl: These are wear-and-tear items. Replacement parts may be available from the manufacturer.
