1. Introduction

The Culligan US-EZ-4 EZ-Change Sink Drinking Water Filtration System provides filtered water for drinking and cooking directly from a dedicated faucet. This system is designed for ease of use and maintenance, featuring a twist-on/off filter cartridge replacement mechanism.

2. Setup and Installation

This section provides detailed instructions for installing your Culligan US-EZ-4 filtration system. For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below.

2.1 Tools Required

• Adjustable wrench
• Phillips head screwdriver
• Drill with 1/4-inch and 1/2-inch drill bits (if drilling a new faucet hole)
• Utility knife or tube cutter
• Bucket and towel
• Teflon tape

2.2 Faucet Installation

1. If your sink has a pre-drilled hole (e.g., for a soap dispenser), remove any existing fixture. If not, drill a 1/2-inch hole in a suitable location on your sink or countertop.
2. Assemble the dedicated faucet by screwing the spout onto the faucet body.
3. Place the rubber gasket onto the threaded faucet stem.
4. Insert the faucet stem through the hole in the sink/countertop.
5. From underneath the sink, slide the metal washer and then the plastic stem nut onto the faucet stem. Hand-tighten the nut to secure the faucet.

2.3 Water Supply Connection

1. Turn off the cold water supply to your main kitchen faucet.
2. Disconnect the cold water line from the 1/2-inch threaded stub on the bottom of the cold water faucet inlet.
3. Apply Teflon tape to the male threads of the faucet stop and the supply adapter.
4. Screw the water supply adapter onto the threaded faucet stub.
5. Reconnect the cold water line to the male supply adapter threads. Hand-tighten and then snug with a wrench.

2.4 Filter Head Mounting

1. Choose a location under the sink to mount the filter head. Ensure there is at least 1.5 inches of clearance below the filter cartridge for future changes. The filter head should be mounted vertically on a firm surface.
2. Use the mounting bracket as a template to mark screw locations.
3. Drill pilot holes using a drill bit slightly smaller than the supplied screws.
4. Mount the filter head using the supplied screws.

2.5 Tubing Connections

1. Measure and cut the plastic tubing to connect the water supply adapter to the filter inlet. Ensure enough length to prevent kinking. Cut the tubing squarely.
2. Insert one end of the tubing into the supply adapter until it is fully seated.
3. Insert the other end of the tubing into the filter inlet until it is fully seated.
4. Measure and cut the plastic tubing to connect the filter outlet to the dedicated faucet.
5. Slide the compression nut and ferrule over one end of this tubing, then insert the plastic insert into the end of the tubing.
6. Push this end of the tubing firmly into the dedicated faucet stem. Hand-tighten the compression nut onto the threads until secure, then tighten approximately half a turn with a wrench.

3. Operating Instructions

After installation, follow these steps to begin using your filtration system:

1. Insert Filter Cartridge: Align the arrow on the filter cartridge with the unlocked padlock symbol on the filter head. Push the cartridge up into the head and then twist the cartridge until the arrow aligns with the locked padlock symbol.
2. Activate Water Supply: Slowly turn on the cold water supply valve. Check for any leaks around connections.
3. Flush System: Rotate the handle of the dedicated filter faucet counter-clockwise to the ON position. Allow water to run for 10 minutes to flush air and carbon fines from the system. The water may appear cloudy initially, which is normal.
4. Daily Use: To dispense filtered water, simply turn the handle of the dedicated faucet to the ON position.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and water quality from your Culligan US-EZ-4 system.

4.1 Filter Cartridge Replacement

The RC-EZ-4 filter cartridge should be replaced every 6 months or after filtering 500 gallons of water, whichever comes first. The system features an easy twist-on/off mechanism for quick replacement.

1. Turn off Water Supply: Turn off the cold water supply to the system.
2. Release Pressure: Open the dedicated filter faucet to release any remaining pressure in the system.
3. Remove Old Cartridge: Place a towel or bucket under the filter head to catch any drips. Align the arrow on the cartridge with the unlocked padlock symbol on the filter head, then twist and pull down to remove the old cartridge.
4. Install New Cartridge: Align the arrow on the new RC-EZ-4 cartridge with the unlocked padlock symbol on the filter head. Push the new cartridge up into the head and then twist until the arrow aligns with the locked padlock symbol.
5. Restore Water Supply & Flush: Slowly turn on the cold water supply. Check for leaks. Flush the system by running water from the dedicated faucet for 10 minutes.
6. Replace Battery: Replace the battery in the faucet's LED indicator.

4.2 LED Filter Life Indicator

The dedicated faucet includes an LED indicator to remind you when to change the filter cartridge:

• Green Light: Filter is operating normally.
• Yellow Light (blinking): Filter needs to be changed within 30 days.
• Red Light (blinking): Filter needs to be changed immediately.
