1. Introduction
The Simran THG-750T is a heavy-duty continuous use step up/down voltage transformer designed for converting electrical voltage between 110/120 Volts and 220/240 Volts. This device allows you to use appliances and electronics from different regions of the world by adapting the local voltage supply to the required voltage of your equipment. It features a maximum capacity of 750 Watts and is compatible with both 50Hz and 60Hz frequencies.
2. Safety Information
- Always ensure the transformer's wattage capacity is sufficient for your appliance. It is recommended to select a transformer with a wattage rating at least 100% higher than the appliance's rated wattage. For heating appliances, laser printers, and power tools, a margin of 3 to 4 times the appliance's wattage is advised due to high initial power surges.
- Do not overload the transformer. Exceeding the maximum wattage capacity can damage the unit and connected appliances, and poses a fire hazard.
- Place the transformer on a stable, flat surface in a well-ventilated area. Avoid covering the unit, as this can lead to overheating.
- Keep the transformer away from water, moisture, and extreme temperatures.
- Ensure the voltage selector switch is set correctly before plugging in any appliance. Incorrect voltage selection can cause severe damage to your appliance.
- Always unplug the transformer from the power source before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
- This unit is for indoor use only.

Key features include built-in fuse protection to safeguard against overloads, with two extra fuses provided for replacement. The unit is CE Approved and Certified, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
5. Setup
- Unpack the Transformer: Carefully remove the transformer and all accessories from the packaging.
- Placement: Place the transformer on a dry, stable, and well-ventilated surface. Ensure there is adequate space around the unit for heat dissipation.
- Determine Voltage Conversion:
- Step Down (220/240V to 110/120V): If your local power supply is 220/240V and your appliance requires 110/120V.
- Step Up (110/120V to 220/240V): If your local power supply is 110/120V and your appliance requires 220/240V.
- Set the Voltage Selector Switch: Locate the voltage selector switch on the back or side of the transformer. Set it to match your local input voltage (e.g., if your wall outlet is 220V, set the switch to 220V). Incorrect setting can damage the unit and connected appliances.
- Connect to Power Outlet: Plug the transformer's power cord into your local wall outlet. If using in a country with US-style outlets, attach the provided US adapter to the Schuko plug.
- Connect Appliance: Plug your appliance into the universal outlet on the front of the transformer.
6. Operating Instructions
Once the transformer is set up and connected, operating it is straightforward:
- Ensure the voltage selector switch is correctly set for your local input voltage.
- Plug the transformer into the wall outlet.
- Plug your appliance into the universal output socket on the front of the transformer.
- Turn on your appliance. The transformer will automatically convert the voltage to the required output (110/120V or 220/240V) based on the input voltage setting.
- When finished, turn off your appliance, then unplug it from the transformer. Finally, unplug the transformer from the wall outlet.
7. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Disconnect the transformer from the power source before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Fuse Replacement: The transformer is equipped with a built-in fuse for protection. If the unit stops working, the fuse may have blown due to an overload. To replace the fuse:
- Unplug the transformer from the wall outlet and disconnect any appliances.
- Locate the fuse holder, typically on the back or side of the unit.
- Unscrew the fuse cap and carefully remove the blown fuse.
- Insert a new fuse of the correct rating (refer to specifications or the original fuse). Two spare fuses are included.
- Screw the fuse cap back on securely.
- Reconnect the transformer and test its operation.
- Storage: Store the transformer in a cool, dry place when not in use.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Transformer not powering on. | No power from wall outlet. Blown fuse. Loose power cord connection. | Check wall outlet with another device. Replace the fuse (refer to Maintenance section). Ensure power cord is securely plugged in. |
| Appliance not working. | Incorrect voltage selector setting. Appliance is faulty. Transformer overloaded. | Verify the voltage selector switch matches your local input voltage. Test appliance directly if possible. Ensure appliance wattage is within transformer's capacity. Replace fuse if blown. |
| Transformer is overheating. | Overloaded. Poor ventilation. | Reduce load on the transformer. Ensure unit is in a well-ventilated area and not covered. |
