Important Safety Instructions

  • Power Source: Connect the unit only to the type of power source indicated on the unit.
  • Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation. Do not block ventilation openings.
  • Water and Moisture: Do not expose the unit to rain or moisture. Do not place objects filled with liquids on the unit.
  • Heat: Keep the unit away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus that produce heat.
  • Cleaning: Unplug the unit from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a dry cloth for cleaning.
  • Servicing: Do not attempt to service this product yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

Setup

1. Unpacking and Placement

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Place the main unit (subwoofer) on a stable, flat surface. Position the satellite speakers to the left and right of your listening area, ensuring they are equidistant from your listening position for optimal stereo imaging.

2. Connecting the Speakers

Connect the satellite speakers to the main unit using the provided speaker cables. Ensure correct polarity (+ to + and - to -) for each speaker. The speaker terminals on the main unit are color-coded for easy identification.

3. Connecting Audio Sources

The GXW-2.1 system supports multiple audio inputs. Refer to the back panel diagram for connection points.

  • Digital Optical Input: Use an optical cable to connect devices like TVs, game consoles, or DVD players to the DIGITAL INPUT OPTICAL terminals. The system has three optical inputs.
  • Analog Input (LINE 1, LINE 2): Use RCA audio cables to connect devices such as CD players, cassette decks, or other audio sources to the LINE 1 or LINE 2 input terminals.
  • Speaker Outputs: Connect the front (L/R) and surround (L/R) speakers to the corresponding terminals. Note the speaker impedance range of 6-16Ω.
  • PRE OUT: For connecting to an external amplifier or powered subwoofer if desired.

4. Power Connection

After all audio and speaker connections are made, connect the power cord to the main unit and then to a wall outlet. The unit is now ready for operation.

Operating Instructions

1. Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the front panel of the main unit or the STANDBY/ON button on the remote control to turn the system on or off.

2. Input Selection

Use the INPUT SELECTOR knob on the front panel or the INPUT buttons on the remote control to switch between connected audio sources (e.g., DIGITAL 1, DIGITAL 2, LINE 1, LINE 2).

3. Volume Adjustment

Adjust the master volume using the large VOLUME knob on the front panel or the VOLUME +/- buttons on the remote control.

4. Remote Control Functions

The provided remote control offers comprehensive control over the GXW-2.1 system.

  • STANDBY/ON: Power on/off.
  • INPUT: Select audio input source.
  • VOLUME +/-: Adjust master volume.
  • MUTE: Mute/unmute audio.
  • LISTENING MODE: Cycle through various sound modes (e.g., Stereo, Virtual Surround).
  • SUBWOOFER LEVEL +/-: Adjust subwoofer output level independently.
  • TONE (BASS/TREBLE): Adjust bass and treble levels.
  • SLEEP: Set a sleep timer.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning the Unit: Wipe the exterior surfaces of the main unit and speakers with a soft, dry cloth. For stubborn stains, dampen the cloth with a mild detergent solution and wipe gently, then dry with a clean cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
  • Speaker Grilles: The speaker grilles can be gently vacuumed to remove dust.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings on the main unit are not obstructed by dust or debris.

Troubleshooting

No Sound

  • Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into the wall outlet and the main unit.
  • Verify the system is powered on.
  • Check that the correct input source is selected.
  • Increase the volume level. Ensure the MUTE function is not active.
  • Confirm speaker cables are correctly connected to both the main unit and satellite speakers, observing polarity.

Distorted Sound

  • Reduce the volume level.
  • Check audio source quality.
  • Ensure speaker cables are not damaged or loosely connected.
  • Verify that the speaker impedance (6-16Ω) is compatible with the system.

Remote Control Not Working

  • Check and replace the batteries in the remote control if necessary.
  • Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote control and the main unit's IR sensor.
  • Make sure you are within the effective range of the remote control.
