1. Introduction
The Behringer MiniFBQ FBQ800 is an ultra-compact 9-band graphic equalizer designed for precise audio frequency adjustment in studio and live sound environments. It features a revolutionary FBQ Feedback Detection System to identify problematic frequencies, a low-cut filter, and accurate level metering for optimal sound control. This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation of your FBQ800.
2. Features
- Ultra-Compact Design: 9.5-inch graphic equalizer suitable for studio and stage applications.
- FBQ Feedback Detection System: Instantly identifies critical frequencies and can function as an audio analyzer.
- Low-Cut Filter: Removes unwanted low-frequency content such as floor rumble.
- Accurate Level Metering: Features a 6-digit LED input/output meter and level control for precise signal monitoring.
- Durable Components: Equipped with high-quality illuminated faders, potentiometers, and switches for long-term reliability.
3. Setup
Before connecting your FBQ800, ensure all audio equipment is powered off. Place the unit on a stable, flat surface to prevent accidental movement.
3.1. Connections
- Connect your audio source (e.g., mixer, instrument) to the INPUT jacks on the rear panel using appropriate 1/4-inch TS or RCA cables.
- Connect the OUTPUT jacks of the FBQ800 to your amplifier or next audio device using 1/4-inch TS or RCA cables.
- Ensure all connections are secure.
3.2. Power Supply
Connect the supplied AC power adapter to the DC IN jack on the rear panel of the FBQ800, then plug the adapter into a suitable power outlet. Use only the specified power adapter to avoid damage.

4. Operating Instructions
The FBQ800 offers intuitive controls for precise sound shaping.
4.1. Front Panel Controls

Figure 2: Front panel controls of the FBQ800.
- EQ Faders: Adjust the level of each of the 9 frequency bands. Move a fader up to boost the frequency, or down to cut it. The range can be set to +/- 6 dB or +/- 12 dB using the RANGE switch.
- LEVEL Control: Adjusts the overall output level of the equalizer.
- INPUT/OUTPUT Meter: A 6-digit LED meter displays the input or output signal level, selectable via the I/O METER button.
- FBQ Mode Button: Activates the Feedback Detection System. When active, the LEDs on the EQ faders will illuminate brightly at frequencies where feedback is occurring, allowing for quick identification and reduction.
- LOW CUT Button: Engages the low-cut filter, which attenuates frequencies below 75 Hz to remove unwanted low-end noise.
- EQ ON/OFF Button: Bypasses the equalizer section. When off, the signal passes through the unit without EQ processing.
- POWER Button: Turns the unit on or off.
4.2. Using the FBQ Feedback Detection System
To utilize the FBQ system, press the FBQ MODE button. During operation, if feedback occurs, the LED corresponding to the problematic frequency band will light up. Gently lower the fader for that specific frequency band until the feedback is eliminated. This system also functions as a visual audio analyzer, showing which frequencies are most prominent in your signal.
5. Maintenance
The Behringer FBQ800 requires minimal maintenance. Keep the unit clean and free from dust. Use a soft, dry cloth for cleaning. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the finish and internal components. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
6. Troubleshooting
- No Sound Output:
- Check all audio cable connections to ensure they are secure and correctly plugged into the INPUT and OUTPUT jacks.
- Verify the power adapter is correctly connected and the unit is powered on.
- Ensure the EQ ON/OFF button is in the desired state (ON for EQ processing, OFF for bypass).
- Check the LEVEL control and the input/output levels of connected devices.
- Unwanted Noise/Hum:
- Ensure all audio cables are in good condition and properly shielded.
- Activate the LOW CUT filter to remove low-frequency rumble.
- Check for ground loops by ensuring all equipment is connected to the same power circuit or using a ground loop isolator if necessary.
- FBQ LEDs Not Illuminating:
- Ensure the FBQ MODE button is pressed and its LED is lit.
- The FBQ system only illuminates for prominent frequencies, typically those causing feedback. If no feedback or strong frequencies are present, the LEDs may not light up.
- Unit Feels Unstable:
- Due to its compact and lightweight design, ensure the unit is placed on a non-slip surface or secured if heavy cables are connected, to prevent it from shifting.
