Setup and Installation

The Intermatic EI220W In-Wall Countdown Timer is designed for straightforward installation, replacing existing single-pole switches. Ensure you have a decorator-style wall plate (not included) for a complete installation.

Turn Off Power: Before beginning any electrical work, always turn off the power to the switch location at the main circuit breaker. Verify the power is off using a voltage tester.
Remove Old Switch: Carefully remove the existing wall plate and disconnect the old switch. Note the wiring connections.
Wire the Timer: Connect the wires from the wall box to the corresponding terminals on the EI220W timer. Refer to the wiring diagram provided on the unit or in the detailed instructions that come with the product. Typically, this involves connecting Hot, Load, Ground, and Neutral wires.
Mount the Timer: Gently push the wired timer into the wall box, ensuring all wires are neatly tucked in to allow for a flush mount. Secure the timer to the wall box using the provided screws.
Install Wall Plate: Attach your decorator-style wall plate over the timer.
Restore Power: Turn the power back on at the main circuit breaker.

Operating Instructions

The EI220W timer offers simple operation for setting countdown periods or continuous operation.

Selecting a Countdown Time: Press the main button repeatedly to cycle through the available countdown settings: 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours, and 8 hours. An indicator light next to the selected time will illuminate. The connected appliance will remain on for the selected duration and then automatically turn off.
Continuous Operation (HOLD): To keep the connected appliance on indefinitely, press the main button until the 'HOLD' indicator light illuminates. In this mode, the timer will not automatically shut off the appliance.
Turning Off: To turn off the appliance before the countdown finishes or from 'HOLD' mode, press the main button until all indicator lights are off.

Maintenance

The Intermatic EI220W In-Wall Countdown Timer requires minimal maintenance. Keep the surface clean by wiping it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Periodically check the wall plate and mounting screws to ensure they are secure.

Troubleshooting
