1. Introduction

4. Setup and Attachment

The Mamiya Auto Extension Tube No. 1 is designed to be mounted between your Mamiya RZ67 camera body and a compatible lens. It can also be combined with other Mamiya extension tubes, such as the Auto Extension Tube No. 2 (sold separately), for greater magnification.

Attaching the Extension Tube to the Camera Body:

1. Ensure your camera is powered off.
2. Remove the lens from your camera body by pressing the lens release button and rotating the lens counter-clockwise.
3. Align the red dot on the extension tube with the red dot on the camera body's lens mount.
4. Gently insert the extension tube into the camera body mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks securely into place. Do not force it.

Attaching the Lens to the Extension Tube:

1. Align the red dot on your Mamiya RZ67 lens with the red dot on the front of the extension tube.
2. Gently insert the lens into the extension tube mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

5. Operating Instructions

Once the Mamiya Auto Extension Tube No. 1 is securely attached between your camera body and lens, you are ready to begin macrophotography.

• Focusing: With an extension tube, the minimum focusing distance of your lens is significantly reduced, allowing for closer focus and higher magnification. The maximum focusing distance will also be reduced.
• Exposure: The Auto Extension Tube No. 1 maintains full electronic coupling between the camera and lens. This means your camera's metering system will function normally, providing accurate automatic or manual exposure readings. No manual exposure compensation is typically required due to the tube itself, as the camera meters through the lens.
• Depth of Field: Macrophotography inherently results in a very shallow depth of field. Consider using smaller apertures (higher f-numbers) to increase the depth of field, if desired.
• Lighting: Due to the close working distances and potential light loss, additional lighting (e.g., flash, continuous lighting) may be beneficial or necessary for optimal results.
• Stability: For critical focus and sharpness in macrophotography, using a sturdy tripod is highly recommended to minimize camera shake.
