4. Setup

  1. Prepare Work Area: Ensure your work area is clean, well-ventilated, and free from obstructions. Lay down drop cloths or protective coverings as needed.
  2. Connect Air Supply: Attach an air hose from your compressor to the air inlet on the spray gun handle. Ensure all connections are secure and leak-free. An air regulator is recommended to control pressure accurately.
  3. Prepare Material: Mix your paint, stain, or other coating material according to the manufacturer's instructions. Ensure it is properly thinned for spraying. Strain the material to remove any particles that could clog the gun.
  4. Fill Canister: Pour the prepared material into the siphon feed canister. Do not overfill. Securely attach the canister to the spray gun body.
  5. Adjust Air Pressure: Set your air compressor's regulator to the recommended operating pressure, typically around 40 PSI for this model. Test the spray pattern on a scrap piece of material before applying to your project.

5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for effective and consistent spraying:

  1. Hold Gun Correctly: Hold the spray gun perpendicular to the surface, maintaining a consistent distance (typically 6-10 inches) for an even coat.
  2. Triggering: Begin moving the gun before pulling the trigger and release the trigger before stopping the gun's movement. This technique prevents paint buildup at the start and end of each pass.
  3. Overlap Passes: Overlap each spray pass by approximately 50% to ensure uniform coverage and avoid streaks.
  4. Adjust Spray Pattern: The spray gun features adjustments for both fluid flow and spray pattern. Experiment on scrap material to achieve the desired finish.
  5. Ventilation: Always ensure continuous and adequate ventilation during operation.

6. Maintenance

Proper cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the longevity and performance of your spray gun. The burnished finish allows for easy cleanup.

  1. Immediate Cleaning: Clean the spray gun immediately after each use. Disconnect the air supply. Empty any remaining material from the canister.
  2. Flush with Solvent: Fill the canister with an appropriate cleaning solvent (e.g., paint thinner for oil-based paints, water for water-based paints). Spray the solvent through the gun until it runs clear.
  3. Disassemble and Clean: Disassemble the fluid nozzle, air cap, and siphon tube. Clean all components thoroughly with a brush and solvent. Pay close attention to small orifices to prevent clogging.
  4. Wipe Down: Wipe the exterior of the gun and canister with a solvent-dampened cloth.
  5. Reassemble and Lubricate: Reassemble the gun. Apply a small amount of lubricant to moving parts and threads as recommended by the manufacturer of your cleaning solvent.
  6. Storage: Store the clean and dry spray gun in a protective case or a clean, dry environment to prevent damage and dust accumulation.
