Operation

This section details the proper operation of your Medline wheelchair.

  • User Seating: The breathable nylon upholstery provides comfort. Ensure the user is seated securely with their feet on the footrests.
  • Maneuvering: The smooth-rolling mag wheels and caster front wheels allow for easy navigation. The large rear wheels facilitate self-propulsion if desired.
  • Braking: Use the handbrakes located on the push handles to slow down or stop the wheelchair. Engage the parking brakes when the wheelchair is stationary to prevent accidental movement.
  • Armrests: The flip-back desk arms allow for easier side-to-side transfers and enable the user to get closer to tables or desks.
  • Elevating Leg Rests: The elevating leg rests can be adjusted to prevent swelling and relieve pressure, providing enhanced comfort for the user.

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your wheelchair.

  • Cleaning: Clean the frame with a damp cloth and mild detergent. The nylon upholstery can be wiped clean. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

  • Brake Check: Periodically inspect the handbrakes for proper function and adjust if necessary.
  • Fasteners: Check all screws, bolts, and fasteners regularly to ensure they are tight. Do not overtighten.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your wheelchair, refer to the following common solutions:

  • Difficulty Rolling: Check wheels for debris or damage. Ensure brakes are fully disengaged.
  • Brakes Not Engaging: Inspect brake cables for damage or looseness. Adjust brake tension if needed. If issues persist, contact customer support.
