4. Setup and Installation
The Sanigrind Pro is designed for floor installation and can be used to create a complete bathroom or laundry facility up to 25 feet below the sewer line or up to 150 feet away from a soil stack. Professional installation is recommended.
4.1 Placement
- Place the unit on a firm, level surface.
- Ensure adequate space around the unit for ventilation and future maintenance access.
- The unit should be positioned to allow for proper gravity flow from connected fixtures where applicable.
4.2 Plumbing Connections
- Connect the toilet outlet to the main inlet of the Sanigrind Pro. The unit is designed for conventional toilets with a bottom outlet (toilet not supplied by Saniflo).
- Connect additional fixtures (sink, shower, bathtub, washing machine) to the 2-inch side inlets. These inlets include built-in check valves.
- Install the discharge pipe (3/4 inch or 1 inch rigid pipe) from the pump's outlet. Ensure the non-return valve is correctly installed in the discharge elbow assembly.
- Connect the 1-1/2 inch vent to a proper vent system as required by local plumbing codes.

4.3 Electrical Connection
- The unit requires a 120 Volt, 60 Hz electrical supply.
- Connect the pump to a dedicated, properly grounded electrical circuit protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI).
- All electrical work must be performed by a licensed electrician and conform to all local and national electrical codes.
5. Operating Instructions
Once properly installed and connected, the Sanigrind Pro operates automatically. When wastewater enters the unit, a pressure switch activates the motor, which grinds the waste and pumps it through the discharge pipe.
- Ensure the unit is plugged into a live, GFCI-protected outlet.
- The pump will activate automatically when water levels rise within the unit.
- After discharge, the pump will automatically shut off.
- Avoid flushing items that are not biodegradable or can cause blockages, such as wipes, paper towels, feminine hygiene products, or excessive amounts of toilet paper.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your Sanigrind Pro. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.
6.1 Routine Cleaning
- Periodically clean the exterior of the unit with a damp cloth.
- For internal cleaning and descaling, use a specialized descaler product designed for macerating units. Follow the descaler manufacturer's instructions.
- Do not use harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive cleaners, as these can damage the unit.
6.2 Accessing the Service Panel
The Sanigrind Pro features an easy-access service panel on top, allowing for maintenance of electrical components without disconnecting existing plumbing. Refer to the technical diagram (Figure 3.2) for the location of the service panel.
- Disconnect power to the unit.
- Carefully remove the service panel cover.
- Perform necessary inspections or repairs. If you are not qualified, contact a professional technician.
- Ensure the service panel is securely re-sealed after maintenance to prevent leaks.
