Compatibility

The TLR-1 is designed for broad compatibility with various firearm rails. Always verify fitment and compatibility prior to purchase.

Included Rail Locating Keys:

  • Glock-style rails
  • MIL-STD-1913 (Picatinny) rails
  • Beretta 90two
  • S&W 99
  • S&W TSW

Detailed Compatibility Notes:

  • BERETTA:
    • Cx4 Storm (carbine/rifle) - 1913 key
    • Px4 Storm (pistol) - GL (Standard) key. Note: M-lights are very loose.
    • Vertec - New polymer key - 1913; Older aluminum key - GL (Standard) Key.
  • CZ: P-01 - Should work with GL (Standard) key (Not tested; based on similar European version).
  • FN: 5.7 (with Picatinny style rail) - 1913 key.
  • GLOCK: Any with rails - GL (Standard) key. Cannot fit Glocks not equipped with factory rails.
  • HK:
    • USP (full size) uses HK adapter 69085 with a GL (Standard) key; (Compact) uses HK adapter 69091 with a GL (Standard) key.
    • HK P2000 is supposed to have Picatinny rail (NOT CHECKED).
    • HK P30 - 1913 key.

Note: The rail tilts down slightly from the bore. This may result in laser zeroing difficulty closer than 50 feet (depending on the tolerances of the pistol and laser).

  • KIMBER: TLE RLII (1911 with rail) - Picatinny key.
  • RUGER:
    • KP345 - GL (Standard) key.
    • SR-9 - GL (Standard) key.
  • SIG SAUER:
    • GSR or 1911 Style with flat bottom rail - Picatinny key.
    • ANY ALUMINUM FRAME SIG WITH A ROUND BOTTOM RAIL: Including the P220R, P229R, etc. The Sig round bottom rail departs from the true shape of both the 1913 and Universal standards and may cause an improper fit. The TLR will work with the 1913 key but THERE WILL BE DAMAGE to the finish of both the gun and the light. The retaining screw must be TIGHT. Newer Sig P series guns are supposed to have a true Picatinny rail. This has not been verified by Streamlight.
    • SP2022 - Polymer frame. Same comments as for aluminum frames, EXCEPT that the polymer frame is a little thicker and does not show marks from a clamp because it is molded from black material. PER SIG, the TLR with the 1913 key works.
  • SMITH & WESSON: On the TSW and 99 models, the slot is too far back for the standard key and requires the special S&W key. There are many different models of TSW, but as long as it's a TSW WITH A RAIL, it uses the S&W key. Smith & Wesson M&P autoloader takes the Picatinny key.
    • SIGMA - Cannot fit.
  • SPRINGFIELD ARMORY:
    • Operator (1911 with rail) - Picatinny key.
    • XD (4 & 5 inch barrels) - GL (Standard) key. Cannot fit 3” barrel.
  • WALTHER:
    • 99 - New (2004 models) FULL SIZE ones are nearly the same as the S&W 99 and use the S&W key. Older ones (no slot across the rail and the side grooves CLOSED in front) cannot be fitted with a TLR.
    • 99 Compact - Cannot fit. Rail is too short.
    • P22 - Cannot fit. Non-standard rail.

Setup

Battery Installation:

  1. Ensure the light is off and detached from any weapon.
  2. Locate the tethered battery door and latch mechanism at the rear of the light.
  3. Lift up on the hard metal tab/clasp to release the battery door. The door will come off.
  4. Insert two CR123A batteries into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside.
  5. Align the battery door and push firmly until it clicks securely into place. There is significant tension in the springs, requiring firm pressure.

Mounting the Light:

  1. Select the appropriate rail locating key for your firearm (Glock-style, Picatinny, Beretta 90two, S&W 99, or S&W TSW).
  2. Insert the chosen key into the slot on the light's rail clamp.
  3. Loosen the mounting screw on the side of the light to widen the clamp.
  4. Align the light with your weapon's accessory rail and snap it into place.
  5. Tighten the mounting screw firmly to secure the light. Ensure there is no play for optimal performance.

Operating Instructions

The TLR-1 features an ambidextrous switch for easy operation.

  • Momentary On: Press and hold either the left or right paddle switch. The light will remain on as long as the switch is held. Release to turn off.
  • Constant On: Push either paddle switch fully up or down until it clicks into place. The light will remain on until the switch is returned to the center position.
  • Strobe Function (User Programmable):
    • To activate the strobe: Rapidly tap either paddle switch two or more times.
    • To disable/enable the strobe: Refer to the detailed instructions in the full user guide for programming the strobe feature.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the lens with a soft, clean cloth. For the body, use a damp cloth and mild soap if necessary. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the light output diminishes. Always use fresh, high-quality CR123A batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different battery types.
  • O-Rings: Periodically inspect the O-rings for wear and tear. Lubricate with silicone grease if needed to maintain waterproof integrity.
  • Storage: Remove batteries if storing the light for extended periods to prevent battery leakage and damage.
