Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper setup, operation, and maintenance of your Manfrotto 128RC Micro Fluid Head. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the product to ensure safe and efficient operation and to maximize its lifespan. The Manfrotto 128RC is designed for smooth fluid movement, offering precise control for video and photography applications.
Setup
1. Attaching the Fluid Head to a Tripod
Align the base of the 128RC Micro Fluid Head with the mounting screw on your tripod. Rotate the head clockwise until it is securely fastened. Ensure the connection is tight to prevent any wobbling during use.

2. Attaching the Camera Plate (200PL-14 RC2)
- Locate the 200PL-14 RC2 Rapid Connector Plate.
- Attach the plate to the base of your camera or compatible device using the integrated screw. Ensure the plate is firmly secured to prevent rotation.
3. Securing the Camera to the Fluid Head
- Ensure the quick release lever on the fluid head is in the open position.
- Slide the camera plate, with the camera attached, into the receiver on the fluid head.
- Push the quick release lever to the closed position until it clicks, securely locking the camera in place. Verify that the camera is stable and cannot be easily removed.
Operating the Fluid Head
The Manfrotto 128RC is designed for smooth and precise camera movements. It supports devices up to 8 pounds (approximately 3.6 kg).
1. Panning (Horizontal Movement)
To pan the camera horizontally, loosen the panning lock knob located at the base of the fluid head. Use the panning arm to guide the camera to the desired position. Tighten the knob to lock the pan movement.
2. Tilting (Vertical Movement)
To tilt the camera vertically, loosen the tilt lock knob, typically located on the side of the head. Use the panning arm to adjust the camera's vertical angle. Tighten the knob to secure the tilt position.

3. Adjustable Panning Arm
The panning arm can be adjusted for left or right-handed operation. Loosen the arm's locking mechanism, reposition the arm to your preferred side, and then tighten the mechanism to secure it.
4. Smooth Fluid Movement
The 128RC Micro Fluid Head features a fluid damping system that provides smooth, controlled movements for both panning and tilting. This allows for precise camera positioning and stable video recording.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the fluid head. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used, followed by immediate drying. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Storage: Store the fluid head in a dry, dust-free environment. If storing for extended periods, ensure all knobs are slightly loosened to relieve pressure on internal components.
- Inspection: Periodically check all screws and connections to ensure they are secure. Do not attempt to disassemble the fluid head beyond user-serviceable parts.
Troubleshooting
- Stiff Movement: If panning or tilting feels stiff, ensure that the respective lock knobs are fully loosened. If the issue persists, clean the head as per maintenance instructions.
- Camera Not Secure: Double-check that the 200PL-14 RC2 plate is firmly attached to your camera and that the quick release lever on the fluid head is fully engaged and locked.
- Wobbling: Ensure the fluid head is securely mounted to the tripod and that the tripod legs are stable and fully extended.
