The Xenyx 1202 provides +48V phantom power for condenser microphones. To activate, ensure all microphone channels are muted or their levels are turned down, then press the PHANTOM switch located in the main section. The corresponding LED will illuminate. Always turn off phantom power before connecting or disconnecting condenser microphones to prevent damage.
The FX SEND control on each channel allows you to send a portion of that channel's signal to an external effects processor. Connect the FX SEND jack on the mixer to the input of your effects unit. Return the processed signal from your effects unit's output to one of the stereo line inputs (e.g., channels 7/8 or 9/10) on the mixer.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No sound output | Main Mix fader is down; Channel level is down; Cables are not connected properly; Speakers/amplifier are off or muted. | Raise Main Mix fader; Raise channel level; Check all cable connections; Ensure speakers/amplifier are on and unmuted. |
| Hum or noise in audio | Ground loop; Faulty cables; High gain setting; Nearby electronic interference. | Use balanced cables; Check cable integrity; Reduce gain if not needed; Move mixer away from other electronics; Use a power conditioner. |
| Signal clipping (CLIP LED constantly on) | Input gain is too high. | Reduce the GAIN control for the offending channel until the CLIP LED only flashes occasionally on peaks. |
| Condenser mic not working | Phantom power not activated. | Press the +48V PHANTOM switch to activate phantom power. |
| Intermittent power | Loose power adapter connection. | Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into the mixer and the wall outlet. Avoid stressing the connection. |
