Operating Instructions
Using as a Strainer/Colander
- Place the Polder basket into a larger pot or directly into a sink.
- Pour cooked pasta, washed vegetables, or other items into the basket to drain liquids.
- The raised footed base ensures proper drainage and keeps the basket elevated from surfaces.
Using as a Steamer Insert
- Select a pot large enough to comfortably hold the Polder basket, ensuring the basket's base does not touch the bottom of the pot.
- Add approximately 1-2 inches of water to the bottom of the pot. Ensure the water level is below the bottom of the steamer basket.
- Place the food to be steamed (e.g., vegetables, seafood) into the Polder basket.
- Carefully lower the basket into the pot.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce heat to maintain a steady simmer and steam until food is cooked to desired tenderness.
- Using the comfort grip handle, carefully lift the hot basket from the pot.

Maintenance and Care
- Cleaning: The Polder Strainer and Steamer Insert Basket is dishwasher safe. For hand washing, use warm, soapy water and a non-abrasive sponge or brush. Rinse thoroughly.
- Drying: Ensure the basket is completely dry before storing to prevent water spots or mineral buildup.
- Storage: Store in a dry place.
- Avoid Abrasives: Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can scratch the stainless steel surface.
Troubleshooting
This product is designed for simplicity and durability. Should you encounter any issues, please consider the following:
- Food Sticking: Ensure the basket is clean before use. For steaming, a light coating of cooking spray can help prevent sticking for some foods.
- Discoloration: Hard water or certain foods may cause temporary discoloration. This can often be removed with a stainless steel cleaner or a solution of vinegar and water.
If problems persist, please contact Polder customer support.
