3. Preparation
Before applying KIWI Camp Dry, ensure the item is properly prepared:
- Clean and Dry: Ensure the item to be treated is thoroughly clean and completely dry. Any dirt or moisture can affect the repellent's effectiveness.
- Patch Test: For light-colored materials, silicone may impart a slightly darker, richer tone. Always perform a patch test on an inconspicuous area first to check for color fastness and desired appearance.
- Shake Well: Shake the can vigorously for several seconds before and during use to ensure proper mixing of the contents.
4. Application Instructions
Follow these steps for effective application:
- Hold Upright: Hold the can upright, approximately 7 to 10 inches (18-25 cm) away from the surface of the item.
- Even Coat: Spray the entire surface with a light, even coat. Avoid oversaturating the material.
- Second Coat (Optional, for Maximum Protection): For enhanced and maximum water protection, apply a second light, even coat after waiting approximately 4 hours for the first coat to set.

5. Drying and Curing
Proper drying is essential for the repellent to bond effectively:
- Allow the treated article to dry completely for 24 to 48 hours before wearing or using.
- Ensure the item is in a well-ventilated area during the entire drying period.
- Keep small children and pets away from the treated item until it is thoroughly dry and cured.
6. Maintenance
The longevity of the water repellent treatment depends on usage and environmental exposure. Reapply KIWI Camp Dry as needed, especially after heavy use, cleaning, or if you notice a decrease in water repellency.
For delicate leathers and suede, consider using specialized products like KIWI Protect All or KIWI Suede Protector, as Camp Dry is formulated for heavy-duty applications.

7. Troubleshooting
- Color Change: If a slight darkening or richer tone appears on light-colored materials, this is a known characteristic of silicone-based products. Always perform a patch test first.
- Reduced Flame Retardancy: Be aware that treating nylon or other fabrics with KIWI Camp Dry may reduce their inherent flame retardant properties.
- Inhalation/Eye Contact: Refer to the Safety Information section (Section 2) for immediate actions in case of accidental inhalation or eye contact.
