  • Mouse: Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the mouse. Insert the required batteries (typically 2 AA, refer to the compartment label for exact type and quantity) ensuring correct polarity.

A battery status indicator light on the keyboard will alert you when battery life is low.

2. Connecting the Wireless Receiver

  1. Locate the USB Wireless Receiver included with your desktop set.
  2. Plug the USB Wireless Receiver into an available USB port on your computer.
  3. Your computer should automatically detect and install the necessary drivers. This process may take a few moments.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000 v2, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, slightly damp cloth to clean the surfaces of the keyboard and mouse. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners. For the keyboard, you may use compressed air to remove debris from between keys.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the battery status indicator signals low power. Always use fresh, high-quality batteries of the specified type (AA).
  • Storage: When not in use for extended periods, remove batteries to prevent leakage. Store the devices in a clean, dry environment away from extreme temperatures.
  • Receiver Care: Keep the USB wireless receiver free from dust and physical damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your wireless desktop set, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. No Response from Keyboard/Mouse:
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace them if necessary.
    • Check if the keyboard and mouse have an on/off switch and ensure they are turned on.
    • Verify that the USB Wireless Receiver is securely plugged into a working USB port on your computer. Try a different USB port.
    • Move the keyboard and mouse closer to the receiver to rule out range issues.
    • Restart your computer.
  2. Intermittent Connection:
    • Ensure there are no large metal objects or other wireless devices (like Wi-Fi routers, cordless phones) operating too close to the receiver, as these can cause interference.
    • Try repositioning the receiver or the devices.
  3. Mouse Tracking Issues:
    • Clean the mouse's laser sensor area on the underside.
    • Try using the mouse on a different surface. Highly reflective or transparent surfaces may affect laser tracking.
  4. Keys Not Working:
    • Ensure the keyboard is clean and free of debris under the keys.
    • If specific keys are not working, it might indicate a hardware issue.
