1. Introduction and Overview
The Celestron NexStar 6SE is a powerful and versatile computerized telescope designed for both intermediate and advanced astronomy enthusiasts. Featuring Celestron's iconic orange tube and advanced 6-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain optics, this telescope offers impressive light-gathering capabilities in a compact, portable form factor. It is ideal for detailed observations of the Moon, planets, and deep-sky objects such as nebulae and galaxies.
The fully automated GoTo mount simplifies object location and tracking. Utilizing the included NexStar+ hand control, users can select from a database of over 40,000 celestial objects, and the mount will automatically locate and track the chosen target with precision. Initial setup is streamlined with SkyAlign technology, requiring users to center any three bright stars or planets in the eyepiece for automatic alignment.
The NexStar 6SE is compatible with a range of Celestron accessories for enhanced automation, wireless control, and improved location accuracy.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Initial Alignment with SkyAlign
SkyAlign technology makes telescope alignment quick and easy, even for beginners. Follow these steps:
- Power on the telescope.
- Follow the prompts on the NexStar+ Hand Control. Select 'Align' and then 'SkyAlign'.
- Center any three bright stars or planets in the eyepiece. You do not need to know their names. The system will automatically calculate your position and align the mount.
- Once aligned, the telescope is ready for GoTo operation.

4.2. Using the NexStar+ Hand Control (GoTo Function)
The NexStar+ Hand Control provides access to a database of over 40,000 celestial objects. After successful alignment:
- Use the arrow buttons to navigate through the menus.
- Select an object category (e.g., Solar System, Stars, Deep Sky).
- Choose a specific object from the list.
- Press 'ENTER' to initiate the GoTo function. The telescope will automatically slew to the object and begin tracking it.
- Use the focus knob on the optical tube to achieve a sharp image.

4.3. Changing Eyepieces and Magnification
The telescope comes with a 25mm eyepiece. To change magnification:
- Loosen the thumbscrew on the star diagonal holding the eyepiece.
- Carefully remove the current eyepiece.
- Insert a different eyepiece (e.g., a higher magnification eyepiece for more detail, or a wider field eyepiece for broader views) and secure it with the thumbscrew.

5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your telescope:
- Cleaning Optics: Use a soft, lint-free cloth and specialized optical cleaning fluid to gently clean the lenses and mirrors. Avoid touching optical surfaces with bare hands.
- Dust Protection: Always keep dust caps on the optical tube and eyepieces when not in use.
- Dew Prevention: In humid conditions, a dew shield (not included) is recommended to prevent moisture from condensing on the corrector plate.
- Storage: Store the telescope in a dry, dust-free environment. The included backpack is suitable for transport and short-term storage.
6. Troubleshooting
- Unstable Image: Ensure the tripod legs are fully extended and locked, and that the optical tube is securely mounted. Avoid touching the telescope during observation.
- Alignment Issues: Double-check that the time, date, and location entered into the hand control are accurate. Ensure the three alignment stars are centered precisely in the eyepiece.
- Hand Control Display Unreadable: Adjust the backlight settings on the NexStar+ Hand Control for optimal visibility in varying light conditions.
- Power Loss: Verify that batteries are fresh or the external power source is properly connected and charged.
