3. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to ensure proper adhesion and damage-free removal.

Preparation:

  1. Clean the Surface: Wipe the desired surface with rubbing alcohol. Do not use household cleaners or water, as they can leave a slippery residue that prevents proper adhesion. Allow the surface to dry completely.
  2. Painted Walls: If the wall has been freshly painted, wait at least 7 days for the paint to cure before applying Command Hooks.

Application Steps:

  1. Separate Strips: Carefully separate the Command Strips from each other.
  2. Attach Strip to Hook: Remove the red liner from one side of a Command Strip. Press the adhesive side firmly onto the back of the hook. Ensure the pull tab extends slightly below the hook.
  3. Position Hook: Remove the black liner from the exposed side of the strip. Position the hook on the desired clean, dry surface.
  4. Press Firmly: Press the hook firmly against the wall for 30 seconds. Ensure even pressure across the entire adhesive area.
  5. Reinforce (for two-piece hooks): If your hook is a two-piece design (where the hook detaches from the base), slide the hook upwards off its mounting base. Press the base firmly against the wall for another 30 seconds.
  6. Wait: For optimal adhesion, wait 1 hour before hanging any items on the hook. This allows the adhesive to fully bond with the surface.
  7. Reattach Hook (for two-piece hooks): After waiting 1 hour, slide the hook back onto its mounting base.

5. Removal Instructions

To remove the Command Utility Hook cleanly and without damaging your surface, follow these steps:

  1. Remove Item: Take any item off the hook.
  2. Slide Hook Up: If your hook is a two-piece design, slide the hook upwards off its mounting base.
  3. Gently Hold Base: Gently hold the top of the mounting base against the wall. Do not press the base into the wall.
  4. Pull Straight Down: Slowly pull the exposed tab of the adhesive strip straight down, parallel to the wall. Stretch the strip at least 12 inches until the hook releases from the wall. Do not pull the strip towards you or at an angle, as this can damage the surface.
