Setup
1. Battery Installation
The Minolta Maxxum 9000 requires two 1.5V AA batteries or a single 6V lithium battery (2CR5 type) for operation.
- Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the camera (refer to Figure 3).
- Open the battery compartment cover by turning it counter-clockwise.
- Insert the batteries according to the polarity indicators inside the compartment.
- Close the cover securely by turning it clockwise.
2. Attaching a Lens
The Maxxum 9000 uses Minolta A-mount lenses.
- Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear cap from the lens.
- Align the red dot on the lens barrel with the red dot on the camera's lens mount.

3. Loading Film

1. Powering On
Turn the main power switch to the "ON" position. The LCD panel on the top of the camera (Figure 1) will illuminate, displaying current settings.
2. Setting Exposure Mode
Rotate the mode dial on the top of the camera (Figure 1) to select your desired exposure mode:
- P (Program Auto): Camera sets both aperture and shutter speed automatically.
- A (Aperture Priority): You set the aperture, camera sets shutter speed.
- S (Shutter Priority): You set the shutter speed, camera sets aperture.
- M (Manual): You set both aperture and shutter speed.
3. Focusing
The Maxxum 9000 features autofocus.
- Look through the viewfinder and compose your shot.
- Press the shutter button halfway down. The camera will automatically focus on your subject. A focus confirmation indicator will appear in the viewfinder when focus is achieved.
- For manual focus, switch the lens to MF (Manual Focus) mode and rotate the focusing ring on the lens until the image in the viewfinder is sharp.
4. Taking a Picture
Once focused and exposure settings are confirmed, press the shutter button fully down to take the picture. The camera will automatically advance the film to the next frame.
