Installation Guide

Follow these steps carefully to install your car amplifier wiring kit. Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before starting any electrical work.

1. Power Cable Installation

Red power cable connected to an amplifier and a fuse holder.

Connect the 8-gauge red power cable to the positive (+) terminal of your car battery. Route this cable through the firewall into the vehicle's interior, ensuring it is protected by the included fuse holder as close to the battery as possible. Connect the other end of the power cable to the amplifier's positive (+) power input terminal.

2. Ground Cable Installation

Black ground cable connected to a car chassis.

Connect the ground cable from the amplifier's negative (-) ground terminal to a clean, unpainted metal surface on the vehicle's chassis. Ensure the connection point is free of paint, rust, or dirt for optimal conductivity. The ground cable should be as short as possible, ideally less than 3 feet (1 meter).

3. Remote Turn-On Wire Connection

Connect the blue remote turn-on wire from the amplifier's 'REM' terminal to the remote output of your car's head unit (stereo). This wire signals the amplifier to turn on when the head unit is activated.

4. RCA Interconnect Connection

Purple RCA interconnect cables connected to an amplifier.

Connect the RCA interconnect cables from the RCA output jacks of your head unit to the RCA input jacks of your amplifier. Ensure the left and right channels are correctly matched.

5. Speaker Wire Connection

Connect the speaker wires from the amplifier's speaker output terminals to your car's speakers. Pay close attention to polarity (positive to positive, negative to negative) to ensure correct audio phasing.

6. Wire Management

Use the included split loom tubing and wire ties to neatly route and secure all cables. This protects the wires from damage and prevents interference. Ensure cables are not pinched or exposed to sharp edges.

Operation

Once properly installed, the BOSS Audio Systems KIT2 enables your car amplifier to receive power, signal, and turn-on commands from your vehicle's electrical system and head unit. The amplifier will power on automatically with your car stereo and deliver amplified audio to your speakers. No direct operation of the wiring kit itself is required beyond initial installation.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and performance of your wiring kit:

  • Periodically inspect all connections for tightness and corrosion.
  • Ensure all cables remain securely routed and protected by the split loom tubing.
  • Check the fuse in the fuse holder regularly and replace it with a fuse of the same rating if it blows.
  • Keep the area around the amplifier and wiring free from debris and moisture.

Troubleshooting

If you experience issues with your car audio system after installation, consider the following:

  • No Power to Amplifier: Check the fuse in the fuse holder. Ensure the power cable is securely connected to the battery and amplifier. Verify the ground connection is clean and tight.
  • Amplifier Not Turning On: Confirm the remote turn-on wire is properly connected to both the head unit and the amplifier, and that the head unit's remote output is active.
  • No Sound or Distorted Sound: Check RCA interconnects for secure connection at both the head unit and amplifier. Verify speaker wire connections are correct and polarity is maintained. Ensure no speaker wires are shorting.
  • Interference/Noise: Ensure power cables are routed separately from RCA and speaker cables to minimize noise. Check all ground connections for proper contact.
