4. Installation and Setup

4.1 Mounting the Gauge

1. Select a suitable location on your dashboard or instrument panel for the gauge. Ensure it is visible and does not obstruct driving.
2. Drill a 2 1/16 inch (52mm) diameter hole for the gauge.
3. Insert the gauge into the hole from the front.
4. Secure the gauge from the rear using the provided twist-on ring mount. Tighten until snug, but do not overtighten.

4.2 Sensor Installation

1. Locate a suitable port for the temperature sensor. This is typically in the engine block, cylinder head, or an inline adapter in a coolant hose.
2. Ensure the engine is cool and drain some coolant if necessary to prevent spills when removing an existing plug or sensor.
3. Apply thread sealant to the threads of the 1/8 NPT sensor.
4. Install the sensor into the chosen port. If the port is a different size, use one of the included adapter bushings (1/2 NPT, 3/8 NPT, or M16x1.5).
5. Tighten the sensor securely, but do not overtighten.
6. Refill coolant if drained and check for leaks.

The gauge requires three connections: Power, Ground, and Sensor Signal.

• Red Wire (Ignition Switched 12V+): Connect to a circuit that receives 12V power when the ignition is on. This powers the gauge.
• Black Wire (Ground): Connect to a clean chassis ground point. Ensure a good metal-to-metal connection.
• Green Wire (Sensor Signal): Connect to the signal terminal of the temperature sensor.
• White Wire (Illumination): Connect to a switched 12V+ source that activates with your vehicle's dashboard lights (e.g., headlight switch). This provides backlighting for night use.

The backlighting will activate when the illumination wire receives power, typically with the vehicle's headlights or dash lights, improving visibility during low-light conditions.
