Setup
Powering the Tuner
The PW-CT-04 can be powered by a 9V battery or an external 9V AC power adapter (not included).
Battery Installation
Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the unit. Insert a 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity. The unit requires one 9V battery.
External Power
Connect a standard 9V AC power adapter to the designated power input jack. The unit also features dual 9V AC jacks, allowing you to daisy-chain power to other pedals on your board, simplifying power management.
Connecting Your Instrument
Connect your instrument's output to the tuner's input jack. Connect the tuner's output jack to your amplifier or other effects pedals in your signal chain.

Operating Instructions
Basic Tuning
- Step on the footswitch to activate the tuner. The display will illuminate, and the output signal will be muted for silent tuning.
- Play a single note on your instrument. The oversized note name indicator will display the detected note (e.g., 'A', 'C#').
- The super-bright tuning LEDs will guide you to the correct pitch. Adjust your instrument until the LEDs indicate the note is perfectly in tune.
- Step on the footswitch again to bypass the tuner and restore your instrument's signal.

Mode Selection (Sweep and Strobe)
Press the MODE button to switch between Sweep and Strobe tuning modes:
- Sweep Mode: Provides a traditional needle-like display for quick visual tuning, indicating if the note is flat, sharp, or in tune.
- Strobe Mode: Offers highly precise tuning. Rotating segments on the display will slow down and stop when the note is perfectly in tune, providing extreme accuracy.
Calibration (A435Hz to A445Hz)
The tuner can be calibrated to a reference pitch other than the standard A440Hz. This is useful for tuning with other instruments or specific musical contexts.
Use the up and down arrow buttons (▲ / ▼) to adjust the reference pitch from A435Hz to A445Hz. The current calibration setting will be displayed on the screen.

Mute/Bypass Function
The footswitch on the PW-CT-04 serves a dual purpose:
- Mute: When the tuner is active, the output signal is muted, allowing for silent tuning during performances without interrupting your sound.
- True Hard Bypass: When the tuner is off, the signal passes directly through the unit without any electronic interference or tone degradation, preserving your instrument's natural sound.
Maintenance
Cleaning
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the tuner's exterior. Avoid abrasive cleaners, solvents, or excessive moisture, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
Battery Replacement
If using battery power, replace the 9V battery when the display dims, the unit fails to power on, or tuning accuracy appears compromised due to low power. Always dispose of used batteries responsibly.
Storage
Store the tuner in a dry environment, away from extreme temperatures, high humidity, and direct sunlight. Disconnect all cables and remove the battery if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
Troubleshooting
Unit does not power on
- Check battery charge and ensure it is installed correctly with proper polarity.
- Verify external power adapter connection and confirm the adapter is functional and provides 9V DC power.
Inaccurate tuning or erratic display
- Ensure the instrument is properly connected to the input jack.
- Check the calibration setting (A435Hz to A445Hz) and adjust if necessary to match your desired reference pitch.
- Ensure only one note is being played at a time for accurate detection. Harmonics or multiple notes can confuse the tuner.
- Verify that the instrument's output is strong enough for the tuner to detect the pitch reliably.
No sound when tuner is bypassed
- Verify all instrument cables are securely connected to both the tuner and subsequent equipment (amplifier, other pedals).
- Check the amplifier or other connected equipment to ensure they are powered on and functioning correctly.
