Setup
Attaching the Lens
- Ensure both the camera and lens are powered off.
- Remove the rear lens cap from the lens and the body cap from the camera.
- Align the mounting mark on the lens with the mounting mark on the camera body.
- Rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it clicks into place.
Attaching the Lens Hood (HB-38)
- Align the lens hood mounting mark with the mark on the front of the lens.
- Rotate the hood until it clicks into place.
- Note: The lens hood can be reversed and mounted on the lens for storage.
Operating the Lens
Focus Mode Switch (M/A, M)
The lens features a focus mode switch with two settings:
- M/A (Autofocus with Manual Override): Allows for quick switching from autofocus to manual focus by rotating the focus ring.
- M (Manual Focus): For manual focusing only.
Vibration Reduction (VR) Switch (ON, OFF)
The VR function reduces blur caused by camera shake, especially useful in low light or when shooting handheld.
- ON: Activates Vibration Reduction.
- OFF: Deactivates Vibration Reduction.
- Note: VR is most effective for static subjects. For panning shots, some cameras may automatically adjust VR for horizontal movement.
Focus Limit Switch (FULL, ∞-0.5m)
- FULL: Allows focusing across the entire range (infinity to 0.314m).
- ∞-0.5m: Limits the focus range from infinity to 0.5 meters, which can speed up autofocus when shooting non-macro subjects.

Maintenance
