1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper use and care of your Minolta Dimage Xt 3.2 Megapixel Digital Camera. 3. Setup

3.1. Inserting the Battery

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the bottom of the camera (refer to Figure 2.3).
  2. Slide the cover latch to open the compartment.
  3. Insert the battery according to the polarity indicators inside the compartment.
  4. Close the compartment cover securely until it clicks into place.

3.2. Inserting the Memory Card

The Minolta Dimage Xt uses Secure Digital (SD) cards for storage.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover (which also houses the memory card slot).
  2. Insert the SD card into the designated slot with the label facing the correct direction, as indicated by the diagram near the slot.
  3. Push the card gently until it clicks into place.
  4. Close the compartment cover.

3.3. Initial Power On

  1. Press the ON/OFF button located on the top of the camera (refer to Figure 2.2).
  2. The LCD screen will illuminate, and the camera will perform a brief startup sequence.
  3. If prompted, set the date and time using the navigation buttons and the MENU button.

4. Operating the Camera

4.1. Powering On/Off

To power on the camera, press the ON/OFF button. To power off, press and hold the ON/OFF button until the screen turns off.

4.2. Taking Photos

  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Select the desired shooting mode using the mode dial (refer to Figure 2.1). Common modes include automatic, portrait, landscape, etc.
  3. Frame your shot using the LCD screen or the optical viewfinder.
  4. Press the shutter button halfway down to activate autofocus. The camera will focus on the subject.
  5. Press the shutter button completely down to capture the image.
  6. The camera supports JPEG file format for still images.

4.3. Recording Videos

  1. Turn the camera on.
  2. Select the movie mode using the mode dial.
  3. Frame your subject on the LCD screen.
  4. Press the shutter button to start recording. A recording indicator will appear on the screen.
  5. Press the shutter button again to stop recording.
  6. The camera records video in Apple Quicktime format.

4.4. Playback

  1. Press the playback button (often indicated by a triangle icon, refer to Figure 2.1) to enter playback mode.
  2. Use the navigation buttons to scroll through your captured photos and videos.
  3. To exit playback mode, press the playback button again or the shutter button to return to shooting mode.

4.5. Menu Navigation

The camera's settings can be adjusted via the menu system.

  1. Press the MENU button (refer to Figure 2.1) to access the camera's settings.
  2. Use the navigation buttons (up, down, left, right) to highlight different menu options.
  3. Press the center button or the shutter button to select an option or confirm a setting.
  4. Press the MENU button again to exit the menu.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning the Camera

  • Lens: Use a soft, lint-free cloth or a lens brush to gently remove dust. For smudges, use a specialized lens cleaning solution applied to a cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • LCD Screen: Wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid pressing too hard.
  • Camera Body: Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe away dust and fingerprints. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents.

5.2. Battery Care

  • Always use the recommended battery type.
  • Remove the battery if the camera will not be used for an extended period.
  • Store batteries in a cool, dry place.

5.3. Storage

When not in use, store the camera in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in a camera bag to protect it from impacts and scratches.

6. Troubleshooting
