3. Setup Guide
3.1 Unpacking and Placement
Carefully remove the Toshiba D-RW2 from its packaging. Place the unit on a stable, level surface with adequate ventilation. Avoid placing it near heat sources or in direct sunlight.
3.2 Connecting to Power
Connect the power cord to the AC inlet on the rear of the unit, then plug the other end into a standard 120V AC wall outlet.
3.3 Audio/Video Connections
The Toshiba D-RW2 offers multiple connection options for audio and video output. Choose the connection type that best suits your television or audio receiver.
- Composite A/V: Connect the yellow (video), white (left audio), and red (right audio) RCA cables from the D-RW2's "LINE OUT" jacks to the corresponding input jacks on your TV or receiver. The unit also has 2 composite A/V inputs (1 front, 1 rear) for connecting external devices.
- S-Video: For improved video quality over composite, connect an S-Video cable from the D-RW2's S-Video output to your TV's S-Video input. You will still need to connect separate audio cables (white and red RCA) for sound. The unit also has 2 S-Video inputs (1 front, 1 rear).
- Component Video (Y/Pb/Pr): For the highest analog video quality, connect component video cables (green, blue, red) from the D-RW2's "COMPONENT VIDEO OUT" jacks to your TV's component video input. Separate audio cables (white and red RCA) are required for sound.
- RF: Connect an RF coaxial cable from the D-RW2's RF output to your TV's antenna/cable input. The unit also has 1 RF input.
- Digital Audio: For digital surround sound, connect a coaxial digital audio cable from the D-RW2's "DIGITAL OUT (COAXIAL)" jack to a compatible digital audio input on your A/V receiver.

4.2 Recording
The D-RW2 allows recording onto DVD-R and DVD-RW discs. Ensure a blank or rewritable disc is inserted.
- One-Touch Recording: With a source connected to an input (e.g., TV tuner, VCR), press the REC button on the front panel or remote control to start recording. Press STOP to end recording.

- Finalization: After recording, DVD-R discs must be finalized to be playable on other DVD players. DVD-RW discs may not require finalization for playback on compatible devices, but it is recommended for broader compatibility.
