5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Microphone Placement

The wireless microphone (transmitter) can be worn by the subject using the provided accessories:

  • Clip: Attach the microphone to clothing, such as a lapel or collar, for discreet placement.
  • Armband: Secure the microphone to the subject's arm, suitable for active scenarios.
  • Lanyard: Wear the microphone around the neck for easy access and positioning.

For optimal sound quality, position the microphone approximately 6-12 inches (15-30 cm) from the sound source. Use the included wind screen to reduce wind noise when recording outdoors.

5.2. Recording Range

The ECMHW1 offers a wireless range of up to 30 meters (approximately 100 feet) under optimal conditions. Environmental factors such as obstacles, electromagnetic interference, and other Bluetooth devices may affect the effective range.

5.3. 5.1 Channel Surround Sound Recording

When used with compatible camcorders that support 5.1 channel surround sound recording, the ECMHW1 can function as the center channel microphone. This allows for clear capture of the main subject's voice while the camcorder's built-in microphones capture ambient sound, creating an immersive audio experience. Consult your camcorder's manual for specific settings related to 5.1 channel audio input.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the microphone and receiver with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace AAA batteries in the transmitter when the indicator light shows low power or the connection becomes unstable. Always use fresh batteries.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the microphone and receiver in the provided carrying pouch in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods.
