Installation (Setup)

This section provides general instructions for replacing a ball assembly in a single-handle faucet. Specific steps may vary slightly depending on your faucet model. Always refer to your faucet's original manual if available.

Tools Required:

Safety Precautions:

Step-by-Step Installation:

  1. Remove the handle: Depending on your faucet model, you may need to pry off a decorative cap to access a screw, or loosen a set screw with a hex key. Remove the screw and lift off the handle.
  2. Remove the cap and cam assembly: Unscrew the cap that holds the ball assembly in place. This may require an adjustable wrench. Once the cap is off, remove the cam and packing assembly. Note the orientation of these parts for reassembly.
  3. Remove the old ball assembly: Carefully lift out the old ball assembly. Inspect the seats and springs located at the bottom of the faucet body; these should also be replaced if worn.
  4. Install new seats and springs (if applicable): Place new springs into the holes at the bottom of the faucet body, then place the new rubber seats over the springs.
  5. Install the new ball assembly: Insert the new DELTA RP212 Ball Assembly into the faucet body, ensuring the stem aligns with the slot in the faucet body.
  6. Reassemble cam and cap: Place the cam and packing assembly back over the ball, ensuring it is correctly oriented. Screw the cap back onto the faucet body and tighten it securely with a wrench, but do not overtighten.
  7. Reattach the handle: Place the handle back onto the stem and secure it with its screw or hex key.
  8. Restore water supply: Slowly turn the water supply valves counter-clockwise to open them.
  9. Check for leaks: Turn on the faucet and check for any leaks around the handle or base. Test both hot and cold water flow and temperature adjustment.

Operating the Faucet

After successful installation of the RP212 Ball Assembly, your single-handle faucet should operate smoothly. The ball assembly controls the mixing of hot and cold water and the volume of flow. Moving the handle from side to side adjusts temperature, while moving it up and down adjusts water volume.

If the faucet does not operate as expected, refer to the Troubleshooting section.

Proper maintenance can extend the life of your faucet and its components, including the RP212 Ball Assembly.
