3. Setup

  1. Surface Preparation: The surface must be clean, dry, structurally sound, and free of all foreign material. Remove any loose debris, dirt, or old caulk from the crack.
  2. Product Preparation: Shake the bottle thoroughly prior to opening and before each use to ensure a consistent mixture.
  3. Nozzle Preparation: Cut the nozzle to create an opening suitable for the width of the crack you intend to fill. A smaller opening is generally better for finer cracks.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Application: Carefully pour the Liquid Cement Crack Filler directly into the crack. For cracks deeper than 1/4 inch, fill in 1/4 inch layers, allowing at least 24 hours between applications. For very thin cracks, the filler may be 'pressed' or troweled flat into and around the crack using a putty knife or similar tool.
  2. Misting: After applying the filler, lightly mist the applied area with water. Avoid flooding the area, as excessive water can wash out the product. Misting helps activate the filler and allows it to settle properly into the crack.
  3. Curing: Concrete repairs are ready for light foot traffic in 30-45 minutes following application. Allow a minimum of 4 hours for light traffic and 24 hours for full cure before heavy use or painting.
  4. Finishing: Once fully cured, the repaired area may be painted with latex or oil-based paints if desired to match the surrounding surface.

5. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity of your concrete repairs, regularly inspect the filled cracks for any signs of wear, new cracks, or deterioration. Clean the repaired surfaces as needed, using mild cleaning agents and avoiding harsh chemicals that could degrade the filler. Promptly address any new damage to maintain the integrity of your concrete surfaces.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Filler not curing properly: Ensure the surface was clean and dry before application. Verify that the ambient temperature was above 45°F (7°C) during application and curing. Ensure proper misting with water was performed to activate the product.
  • Filler not blending with concrete: The product dries gray to match most existing concrete. Slight color variations may occur depending on the age and type of concrete. For a perfect match, the repaired area can be painted with latex or oil-based paints after full cure.
  • Cracks reappearing: This product provides a permanent repair for cracks up to 1/2 inch wide. For wider or deeper cracks, multiple applications may be necessary. Ensure the crack is structurally sound before application and address any underlying issues causing the cracks.
