WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors Instruction Manual

Brand: WeatherTech | Model: 80093

Product Overview

The WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors are engineered to provide maximum fresh air enjoyment while reducing wind noise. Crafted from strong and flexible cast acrylic, these deflectors feature ultra-thin, precision-machined flanges designed for seamless integration into your vehicle's window channels. They offer an optically transparent, sleek aerodynamic styling that enhances your vehicle's appearance without the need for exterior tape. These deflectors are designed to minimize interior heat buildup when parked and effectively keep side windows dry during rain, allowing you to crack your windows for ventilation in various weather conditions.

This manual provides detailed instructions for the proper installation, operation, and maintenance of your WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors.

Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and fit. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Clean the Window Channel and Weatherstrip: Before installing, ensure the window and window channels are completely clean and dry. Wrap a paper towel around the flat end of the channel tool (if provided) and sweep it through the window channel and weatherstrip to remove any dirt or debris.
  2. Slide Front Flange into Channel: Slide the machined flange of the deflector into the forward window channel. It is very important that the bottom edge of the deflector rests on top of the outside weatherstrip.
  3. Position Rear Flange: With the front end in position, gently bow the deflector towards you. Slip the rear end flange into the rear vertical window channel, leaving approximately a 1/2 inch gap at the top.
  4. Tuck Flange into Channel: Working from front to back, pull down and tuck the flange up into the window channel. Apply a little outward pressure to help seat the deflector properly into the window channel.
  5. Remove Adhesive Backing (Rear Deflectors Only): If your deflectors have pre-applied adhesive (typically on rear deflectors), carefully remove the backing from the adhesive strip.
  6. Fit Rear Deflector: Fit the rear deflector into the rear window by orienting it at a slight angle. Then, straighten the deflector and slide it up into the window channel.
  7. Apply Outward Pressure (Rear Deflectors Only): Apply slight outward pressure with your fingertips to help set the adhesive firmly.
  8. Check for Obstructions: Before closing your window for the first time, make sure the deflector is fully inserted into the window channel and that there is no obstruction to the window track. Double-check by running the flat end of the channel tool across the top of the channel.
  9. Raise Window Slowly: Raise the window slowly and apply outward tension until the window reaches the threshold of the side window deflector. Then, finish raising the window without the added tension.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, your WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors allow you to enjoy fresh air even during inclement weather. Simply lower your vehicle's windows slightly to allow air circulation without rain entering the cabin. The deflectors are designed to reduce wind noise, providing a more comfortable driving experience with windows partially open.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and continued performance of your WeatherTech Side Window Deflectors, regular cleaning is recommended. Use a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth to clean the deflectors. Periodically inspect the window channels and weatherstrips for any accumulated dirt or debris and clean as necessary to maintain a smooth operation of your windows and deflectors.

Troubleshooting

  • Window Resistance After Installation: For best results, keep windows fully closed for 48 hours after installation to allow the deflectors to acclimate to the window channel.
  • Slow Acclimation in Cold Weather: Deflectors may take longer to acclimate if the temperature is below 60°F (16°C). Allow additional time for the material to settle into place.
  • Improper Fit: Ensure the deflector's bottom edge rests on top of the outside weatherstrip as per installation instructions. Verify that the deflector is fully inserted into the window channel and there are no obstructions.
