3. Setup and Installation
The Medline Toilet Safety Rail is designed for easy installation onto most standard toilets. No special tools are required.
- Prepare the Toilet: Lift the toilet seat and lid. Locate the two bolts that secure the toilet seat to the toilet bowl.
- Position the Bracket: Place the adjustable mounting bracket of the safety rail over the toilet seat bolts. Ensure the bracket is centered and flush against the toilet bowl.
- Secure the Rail: Re-attach the toilet seat and lid, aligning the holes with the bracket and toilet bowl. Use the provided mounting knobs to tighten the bracket securely to the toilet seat bolts. Hand-tighten only; do not overtighten.
- Adjust Width: The width between the arms can be adjusted. Loosen the knobs on the horizontal bar of the frame, slide the arms to the desired width (between 15-18 inches), and re-tighten the knobs.
- Verify Stability: Gently test the rail by applying downward pressure to ensure it is stable and does not wobble. If unstable, re-check all connections and tighten the mounting knobs.
