Features:

  • Adjustable genuine leather strap (18mm) fits up to an 8-inch wrist circumference.
  • White easy-to-read dial with full Arabic numerals and a day/date window at 3 o'clock.
  • Silver-tone 35mm brass case with mineral glass crystal.
  • Indiglo light-up watch dial for illumination in low light.
  • Water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet), suitable for splashes or brief immersion, but not for swimming or bathing.

2. Setup

Setting Time and Date:

The watch features a crown on the side for adjusting settings. Proper manipulation of the crown is essential to avoid damage to the movement.

  1. Setting the Day of the Week: Pull the crown out to its outermost position. Rotate the crown clockwise. The day of the week will advance. Continue rotating until the correct day is displayed. This may require rotating through several days to reach the desired setting.
  2. Setting the Date: Gently push the crown in slightly from its outermost position, so there is a small gap between the crown and the watch case. In this intermediate position, rotate the crown to adjust the date.
  3. Setting the Time: With the crown still in the outermost position (as for setting the day), rotate it to set the hour and minute hands to the correct time. Ensure AM/PM is correctly set by observing if the date changes when passing midnight.

After setting, always push the crown fully back into its normal position against the watch case to ensure water resistance and proper operation. If storing the watch for an extended period and wishing to conserve battery life, pull the crown out to the outermost position.

3. Operating Instructions

Indiglo Night-Light Feature:

The Timex Easy Reader features an Indiglo night-light. To activate the Indiglo, press and hold the crown. The entire watch dial will illuminate, allowing for easy time reading in dark environments. Release the crown to turn off the light.

Water Resistance:

This watch is water resistant to 30 meters (100 feet). This means it can withstand splashes, rain, or brief immersion in water. It is not designed for swimming, bathing, or diving. Avoid operating the crown while the watch is wet to prevent water entry.

4. Maintenance

Battery Replacement:

The watch is powered by one Lithium Metal battery (CR2016 cell). When the watch begins to slow down or the Indiglo light dims significantly, it may be time to replace the battery. It is recommended to have battery replacement performed by a qualified watch technician to ensure proper sealing and maintain water resistance.

Cleaning:

To clean your watch, wipe the case and crystal with a soft, damp cloth. For the leather strap, avoid excessive moisture and harsh chemicals. If the leather becomes wet, allow it to air dry naturally. Regular cleaning helps maintain the watch's appearance.

5. Troubleshooting

  • Watch Not Keeping Accurate Time:
    • Ensure the crown is fully pushed in. If the crown is pulled out, the watch will not operate correctly.
    • The battery may be low. Refer to the "Battery Replacement" section.
  • Indiglo Light Not Working or Dim:
    • Ensure the crown is pressed firmly.
    • A dim light often indicates a low battery.
  • Crown Feels Loose or Detached:
    • If the crown detaches, it may be possible to reinsert it. However, it is recommended to seek professional watch repair to ensure proper function and water resistance.
