3. Initial Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

  1. Remove all packaging materials from the appliance.

  3. Add finely ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Use the measuring scoop for accurate dosing.
  4. Lightly tamp the coffee grounds with the tamper. Ensure the surface is level.
  5. Wipe any excess coffee from the rim of the portafilter.
  6. Insert the portafilter into the brewing head and turn it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
  7. Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray, under the portafilter spouts.
  8. Press the Power button to turn on the machine. Wait for the indicator light to become stable, indicating the machine is preheated.
  9. Press the Espresso button. The machine will begin brewing.
  10. Once the desired amount of espresso is dispensed, press the Espresso button again to stop the flow.
  11. Carefully remove the portafilter by turning it to the left. Discard the used coffee grounds.

4.2 Frothing Milk (Steam Wand)

  1. Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) up to one-third full.
  2. Press the Steam button on the control panel. Wait for the indicator light to become stable, indicating the steam function is ready.
  3. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  4. Turn the steam knob counter-clockwise to release steam.
  5. Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam. For latte art, aim for a silky, micro-foam texture.
  6. Once the milk reaches the desired temperature and consistency, turn the steam knob clockwise to stop the steam.
  7. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.
  8. Press the Steam button again to turn off the steam function.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the lifespan of your espresso machine.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  • Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter, discard coffee grounds, and rinse thoroughly under running water.
  • Steam Wand: Immediately after frothing milk, wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth. Purge a small amount of steam to clear any internal milk residue.
  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray daily.
  • Water Tank: Rinse the water tank and refill with fresh water daily.
  • Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.

5.2 Descaling

Descaling should be performed regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-3 months). Use a commercially available descaling solution suitable for espresso machines.

  1. Prepare the descaling solution according to the manufacturer's instructions and pour it into the water tank.
  2. Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
  3. Turn on the machine and allow it to heat up.
  4. Run approximately half of the descaling solution through the brewing head by pressing the Espresso button.
  5. Open the steam knob to release the remaining solution through the steam wand.
  6. Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes to allow the solution to work.
  7. Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water.
  8. Run several full tanks of fresh water through both the brewing head and steam wand to rinse out any descaling solution residue.
