The Hiland HLDS032-B is a compact, portable propane-fueled heater designed for outdoor use, providing 11,000 BTUs of heat. It is suitable for placement on tabletops and can operate with either a 1lb propane tank or a 20lb propane tank (with an adapter hose, not included).

2. Safety Information
WARNING: For Outdoor Use Only. Do not operate this heater indoors or in enclosed spaces.
- Always ensure adequate ventilation when operating the heater.
- Keep clear of combustible materials. Maintain a minimum clearance of 24 inches (61 cm) from sides and rear, and 36 inches (91 cm) from the top.
- This heater is equipped with a thermocouple and anti-tilt safety devices, which will automatically shut off the gas supply if the pilot flame extinguishes or the unit tips over.
- Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any other appliance.
- Propane gas is heavier than air and will settle in low areas. Ensure the area around the heater is clear of any potential ignition sources.
- Always inspect the gas hose and connections for leaks before each use. Use a soapy water solution to check for bubbles.
- Do not attempt to repair or alter the heater. Contact qualified service personnel for repairs.
- Keep children and pets away from the heater during operation.
- This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm (Proposition 65 warning).

4. Assembly and Setup
Follow these steps for proper assembly and initial setup of your patio heater.
4.1 Attaching the Base and Weight Plate
- Carefully unbox all components.
- Attach the heavy weight plate to the underside of the base plate using the provided hardware. This plate significantly enhances stability.
- Secure the main body/housing to the base plate.

4.2 Installing the Propane Tank
The heater is designed to use a 1lb propane tank directly or a 20lb propane tank with an optional adapter hose (not included).
- Ensure the control knob is in the "OFF" position.
- Open the access door on the main body of the heater. This door provides easy access to the propane connection point.
- Connect the regulator to the propane tank. For a 1lb tank, screw it directly into the regulator. For a 20lb tank, connect the adapter hose to the tank and then to the regulator.
- Carefully place the propane tank inside the heater's housing. The regulator may tilt for easier installation.
- Close the access door securely.

4.3 Leak Testing
Before first use and after every tank change, perform a leak test:
- Mix a solution of soapy water (50% soap, 50% water).
- Ensure the heater's control knob is OFF.
- Open the propane tank valve.
- Apply the soapy solution to all gas connections. If bubbles appear, there is a leak. Tighten connections or replace parts as necessary. Do not operate the heater if a leak is detected.
5. Operating Instructions
This section details how to safely ignite and operate your Hiland patio heater.
5.1 Ignition Procedure
It is recommended to perform the initial ignition in low light conditions to clearly see the pilot flame.
- Ensure the propane tank valve is fully open.
- Push in the control knob and rotate it counter-clockwise to the "PILOT" position.
- While holding the knob in, press the red igniter button repeatedly until the pilot flame ignites. You may need to press it multiple times (up to 15-20 times) until you hear a click and see the pilot light.
- Once the pilot is lit, continue to hold the control knob in for at least 15-20 seconds. This allows the thermocouple to heat up and engage the safety valve. Releasing too soon will cause the pilot to extinguish.
- After holding, slowly release the control knob. The pilot flame should remain lit. If it extinguishes, repeat steps 2-4.
- To ignite the main burner, push in the control knob and rotate it further counter-clockwise to the "LOW" or "HIGH" position. The main burner should ignite.

5.2 Adjusting Heat Output
Rotate the control knob between "LOW" and "HIGH" to adjust the heat intensity as desired. The heater provides up to 11,000 BTUs of heat.
5.3 Shutting Down the Heater
- Rotate the control knob clockwise to the "OFF" position.
- Close the valve on the propane tank.
- Allow the heater to cool completely before moving or storing.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures safe and efficient operation of your heater.
- Cleaning: Wipe exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the burner screen is free of debris.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, disconnect the propane tank and store the heater in a dry, protected area.
- Inspections: Periodically check all gas connections and the hose for signs of wear, damage, or leaks.
