Setup and Installation
Unpacking
Carefully remove the pump from its packaging. Inspect for any damage before proceeding with installation.
Important Pre-Operation Step
Before operating the pump, you must remove the cardboard insert located inside the unit. Failure to remove this insert will cause the pump to overflow.

Placement
Position the pump on a stable, level surface near the equipment producing condensate (e.g., air conditioner, furnace, dehumidifier). Ensure the pump is accessible for maintenance and inspection.
Condensate Inlet Connection
The pump has three 1-1/8" inlet openings. Connect the condensate drain line from your equipment to one of these openings. Ensure the drain line slopes downwards towards the pump for proper gravity flow.
Discharge Line Connection
Connect a 3/8" ID (inside diameter) tubing to the barbed discharge nipple on the pump. Secure it with a hose clamp to prevent leaks. Route the discharge tubing to a suitable drain, ensuring it is free of kinks or obstructions. The pump has a 15-foot shut-off head, meaning it can pump water up to 15 feet vertically.
Electrical Connection
Plug the 6-foot power cord into a standard 115 Volt, 60 Hz electrical outlet.
Overflow Detection Switch Wiring
The overflow detection switch includes two 5" lead wires. This switch can be wired to either shut down the connected appliance in case of high water levels or activate an audible/visual alarm (not included). Basic wiring knowledge is required for this connection. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.

Operating Instructions
The VCMA-15ULS pump operates automatically. When condensate fills the reservoir to a certain level (approximately 2.5 inches), the internal float switch activates the pump. The pump will run until the water level drops to approximately 1.1 inches, then it will shut off.
Initial Start-up
After installation, ensure all connections are secure and the cardboard insert has been removed. Turn on the equipment producing condensate. The pump will activate automatically as condensate collects.
Overflow Protection
If the water level in the reservoir rises above the normal operating range, the overflow detection switch will activate. If wired, this will either shut down the connected equipment or trigger an alarm, preventing potential water damage.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your condensate pump.
Cleaning the Reservoir
It is recommended to clean the pump's reservoir periodically, especially when changing air conditioner filters or as needed based on usage.
- Disconnect the pump from the power source.
- Disconnect the inlet and discharge lines.
- Remove the pump cover and carefully clean the inside of the reservoir, float switch, and impeller area. Use a mild detergent and water. Avoid harsh chemicals.
- Rinse thoroughly and reassemble.
Checking Tubing
Periodically inspect the inlet and discharge tubing for any obstructions, kinks, or signs of algae/sludge buildup. Clean or replace tubing as necessary to maintain proper flow.

Troubleshooting
If your pump is not operating correctly, review the following common issues and solutions:
Pump Not Running
- Check Power: Ensure the pump is securely plugged into a working electrical outlet.
- Float Switch: Verify that the float switch is not obstructed and can move freely. The water level must be high enough to activate the switch.
- Thermal Overload: The motor has thermal overload protection. If the pump has been running continuously or under strain, it might have shut off to cool down. Allow it to cool and check for obstructions.
- Cardboard Insert: Confirm the shipping cardboard insert has been removed from the reservoir.
Pump Running Continuously
- Discharge Line Obstruction: Check the discharge tubing for kinks, blockages, or excessive vertical lift.
- Check Valve: Inspect the built-in check valve for debris that might prevent it from closing, allowing water to flow back into the reservoir.
- Float Switch: Ensure the float switch is not stuck in the "on" position.
Water Overflowing
- Discharge Line Blockage: Clear any blockages in the discharge line.
- Inlet Line Blockage: Ensure condensate can freely enter the pump's reservoir.
- Pump Failure: If the pump motor is running but not discharging water, or if it's not running at all despite high water levels, the pump may require service or replacement.
- Cardboard Insert: Re-verify the cardboard insert has been removed.
