10. Troubleshooting
If you encounter problems with your DVD recorder, refer to the following common issues and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause / Solution |
|---|---|
| No power | Ensure the power cord is securely connected to both the unit and the wall outlet. Check the power outlet with another device. |
| No picture or sound | Verify all audio/video cables are correctly connected between the recorder and your TV. Ensure the TV input is set to the correct source (e.g., Video 1, Component, HDMI). |
| Disc will not play/record | Ensure the disc is inserted correctly (label side up). Check if the disc is clean and free of scratches. Verify the disc type is compatible with the recorder (+R, +RW, +R DL). Some users have reported better compatibility with Sony brand discs for recording. |
| Remote control not working | Check the batteries and replace if necessary. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the unit's sensor. Point the remote directly at the unit. |
| Recording errors or freezing | Try using a different brand of recordable DVD, preferably Sony brand, as some recorders can be particular about media compatibility. Ensure the disc is not full or damaged. |
If the problem persists after trying these solutions, please contact Sony customer support.
