Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all components are present.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the removable water tank, portafilter, filter inserts, and drip tray with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Wipe the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
  3. Positioning: Place the espresso machine on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface near a power outlet. Ensure adequate ventilation around the unit.
  4. Fill Water Tank: Remove the water tank from the back of the machine. Fill it with fresh, cold water up to the MAX line. Replace the tank securely.
  5. Prime the Pump:
    • Place a large cup under the espresso spout.
    • Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
    • Press the power button (Ⓘ). The indicator light will illuminate.
    • Turn the control dial to the "espresso" symbol (☕) and allow water to flow through until the cup is full. This primes the pump and heats the system.
    • Turn the dial back to the "off" position (○).

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso:

  1. Prepare the Portafilter:
    • Select the appropriate filter insert (single or double shot) and place it into the portafilter.
    • For ground coffee, add the desired amount of finely ground espresso coffee into the filter. Do not overfill. Lightly tamp the coffee down.
    • For E.S.E. pods, place one pod into the designated filter insert.
  2. Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist firmly to the right until it is securely locked in place.
  3. Preheat Cups: Place your espresso cups on the cup-warming tray on top of the machine.
  4. Brew Espresso:
    • Ensure the water tank is filled.
    • Place your preheated cup(s) under the portafilter spouts.
    • Turn the control dial to the "espresso" symbol (☕). The machine will begin to brew.
    • Once the desired amount of espresso is dispensed, turn the dial back to the "off" position (○) to stop the flow.
  5. Remove Used Coffee: Carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Dispose of the used coffee grounds or pod.

Frothing Milk for Cappuccinos and Lattes:

  1. Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless-steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
  2. Heat Steam: Turn the control dial to the "steam" symbol (∿). The machine will begin to heat up for steam production. Wait for the indicator light to signal readiness.
  3. Purge Steam Wand: Before frothing, briefly open the steam valve by turning the dial to the steam symbol to release any condensed water. Close the valve once steam appears.
  4. Froth Milk:
    • Immerse the steam nozzle just below the surface of the milk.
    • Turn the control dial to the "steam" symbol (∿) to start steaming.
    • Move the pitcher slowly up and down, keeping the nozzle just below the surface to create foam. For latte, immerse deeper for less foam.
    • Continue until the milk reaches the desired temperature and consistency. The pitcher will become hot to the touch.
    • Turn the dial back to the "off" position (○) to stop steaming.
  5. Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to remove any milk residue. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any milk from inside the nozzle.

Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.

Daily Cleaning:

  • Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray after each use or when the indicator floats up.
  • Portafilter and Filter Inserts: Remove and rinse thoroughly after each use. Ensure no coffee grounds remain in the filter holes.
  • Steam Wand: Wipe immediately after frothing. Briefly activate steam to clear internal residue.
  • Exterior: Wipe the machine's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.

Descaling:

Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

  1. Use a commercial descaling solution specifically designed for espresso machines, following the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. Alternatively, you can use a solution of white vinegar and water (1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
  3. Fill the water tank with the descaling solution.
  4. Place a large container under the espresso spout and steam wand.
  5. Run half of the solution through the espresso spout by turning the dial to the espresso symbol.
  6. Run the remaining half through the steam wand by turning the dial to the steam symbol.
  7. After descaling, rinse the water tank and fill it with fresh water. Run several tanks of fresh water through both the espresso spout and steam wand to thoroughly rinse the machine.
