Maintenance
- Mantle Replacement: Mantles are fragile and will eventually break. Replace them when they become damaged or no longer produce a consistent light. Follow the "Installing Mantles" steps for replacement.
- Cleaning: Keep the glass globe clean for optimal light output. Allow the lantern to cool completely before cleaning. Use a soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
- Storage: When not in use, disconnect the propane cylinder. Store the lantern in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat sources. The collapsible footed base allows for compact storage.
- Corrosion Resistance: The porcelain-coated 2-tier ventilator is designed to resist corrosion and rust, contributing to the lantern's longevity.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Lantern does not light. | No propane, mantles not properly installed, gas not flowing. | Check propane cylinder connection and level. Ensure mantles are correctly attached. Turn control knob to "LIGHT" position and listen for gas. |
| Light is dim or flickers. | Low propane, damaged mantles, dirty globe. | Replace propane cylinder. Inspect and replace mantles if damaged. Clean glass globe. |
| Whistling sound during operation. | Gas flow issue, possibly low fuel. | Ensure propane cylinder is not nearly empty. Adjust the control knob slightly to see if the sound stops. If persistent, discontinue use and inspect connections. |
| Gas leak detected. | Loose connection, damaged O-ring. | Immediately turn off gas. Tighten propane cylinder connection. If leak persists, do not use and seek professional service or replace the lantern. |
