3.3. Pairing the Units

The AL8 units are typically pre-paired. If they do not connect automatically, you may need to manually set the channel:

  1. On both the Transmitter and Receiver, locate the Setup Code switch and the Channel switch.
  2. Ensure both units are powered on.
  3. Using a small pointed object (like a pen tip), set the Channel switch on both the Transmitter and Receiver to the same position (e.g., 'A' or 'B').
  4. Observe the Status indicator light on both units. A solid green light indicates a successful connection.

4. Operating Instructions

Once the AL8 system is set up and connected, operating it is straightforward:

  1. Ensure your Bose Lifestyle system is powered on and playing audio.
  2. Turn on the second-room speaker system connected to the AL8 Receiver.
  3. Select the appropriate input on your second-room speaker system if it has multiple inputs. The audio from your Lifestyle system should now be playing wirelessly in the second room.
  4. Volume control for the second room is typically managed by the second-room speaker system itself or a connected Bose remote control.

The AL8 system transmits audio using radio frequency (RF) technology, allowing it to pass through most walls and floors. Its Free Field circuitry is designed to minimize interference from other wireless devices such as cordless phones and Wi-Fi networks.

5. Maintenance

The Bose Link AL8 system requires minimal maintenance:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior surfaces of the transmitter and receiver. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Placement: Ensure the units are placed in well-ventilated areas, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and excessive moisture. Avoid placing them near large metal objects that could interfere with the wireless signal.
  • Cables: Periodically check all cable connections to ensure they are secure.
