  2. Identify Your Key: Each padlock comes with a specific key. Ensure you keep your keys in a safe and accessible location. Note that this model is keyed alike to #A445.

  1. Insert the correct key into the keyway at the bottom of the padlock body.
  2. Turn the key clockwise approximately one-quarter turn (90 degrees).

  4. Remove the key from the keyway.

To Lock the Padlock:

  1. Close the shackle by pushing it firmly back into the padlock body until it clicks into place.

Maintenance

Proper maintenance will extend the life and functionality of your Master Lock padlock.

  • Cleaning: Periodically wipe the padlock body and shackle with a clean, dry cloth to remove dirt and grime.
  • Lubrication: If the key becomes difficult to turn or the shackle sticks, apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based lubricant specifically designed for locks into the keyway. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt and cause jamming.
  • Key Care: Avoid bending or forcing the key. Store spare keys in a secure location.

Troubleshooting

  • Key is difficult to insert or turn:
    • Check if the key is bent or damaged. Use a spare key if available.
    • Apply a small amount of graphite or silicone-based lock lubricant into the keyway.
    • Ensure the key is fully inserted before attempting to turn.
  • Shackle will not open after turning the key:
    • Ensure the key is turned completely.
    • Check for any obstructions preventing the shackle from springing open.
    • Apply lubricant to the shackle mechanism if it appears stiff.
  • Shackle will not close:
    • Ensure there are no obstructions in the shackle holes.
    • Push the shackle firmly until it clicks.
