Key Components:

Setup and First Use

Unpacking:

Initial Cleaning (Before First Use):

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the MAX level.
  2. Place a large heat-resistant container under the portafilter and steam wand.
  3. Plug the appliance into a suitable power outlet.
  4. Turn the control knob to the "Espresso" position and allow water to flow through until the reservoir is empty.
  5. Repeat the process for the steam function, allowing water to flow through the steam wand.
  6. Discard the water and rinse the reservoir and drip tray.

This process primes the pump and cleans the internal components before brewing coffee.

Operating Instructions

Making Espresso:

  1. Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh, cold water.
  2. Insert the desired filter basket into the portafilter.
  3. Add ground espresso coffee to the filter basket. Do not overfill.
  4. Tamp the coffee grounds evenly.
  5. Attach the portafilter securely to the brewing head by twisting it to the right until it locks.
  6. Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray beneath the portafilter spouts.
  7. Turn the control knob to the "Espresso" position. The machine will begin to brew.
  8. Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, turn the control knob back to the "Off" position.
  9. Carefully remove the portafilter and discard the used coffee grounds.

Frothing Milk (for Cappuccinos and Lattes):

  1. Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (do not fill more than halfway).
  2. Turn the control knob to the "Steam" position and wait for the indicator light to signal readiness (may take a moment to heat up).
  3. Position the steam wand just below the surface of the milk.
  4. Slowly lower the pitcher as the milk froths, keeping the tip just below the surface to incorporate air.
  5. Once desired foam is achieved, immerse the wand deeper to heat the milk without adding more air.
  6. Turn the control knob back to "Off" and remove the pitcher.
  7. Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Daily Cleaning:

Descaling:

Regular descaling is essential to maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your espresso maker. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage, but typically every 2-3 months.

  1. Prepare a descaling solution according to the descaler manufacturer's instructions (or use a mixture of white vinegar and water).
  2. Fill the water reservoir with the descaling solution.
  3. Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
  4. Run half of the solution through the espresso function, then half through the steam function.
  5. Turn off the machine and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Run the remaining solution through both functions.
  7. Rinse the reservoir thoroughly and fill with fresh water.
  8. Run several cycles of fresh water through both functions to rinse out any descaling solution.
