Safety Precautions

DANGER: Contains ethyl cyanoacrylate. Bonds skin and eyes in seconds. Keep out of reach of children.

  • Ventilation: Always use in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling fumes.
  • Eye Contact: For accidental eye contact, flush immediately with water for 15 minutes. Seek medical attention without delay.
  • Skin Contact: Avoid direct skin contact. If contact occurs, the adhesive will wear off with water exposure. Do not attempt to pull bonded skin apart.
  • Clothing/Fabric: Avoid contact with clothing, fabric, and foam materials as this can cause a chemical burn.
  • Opening Bottle: Always point the bottle away from your face and body when opening.
  • Storage: Store upright in a cool, dry area, away from direct sunlight and heat.

Setup & Application

  1. Prepare Work Area: Protect your work surfaces from spills. Ensure adequate ventilation.
  2. Open Bottle: Remove the overcap. Twist off the reusable cap, ensuring the bottle is pointed away from your face and body.
  3. Apply Adhesive: Apply one drop of adhesive per square inch to one of the surfaces you intend to bond. A microdropper tip can be used for precision application if desired.
  4. Join Parts: Carefully join the parts together.
  5. Hold in Place: Hold the joined parts firmly for 10-15 seconds, or until the adhesive sets.
  6. Accelerate Cure (Optional): For faster curing, use ZAP Kicker accelerator.
  7. Recap: Immediately recap the tip after use to prevent drying and maintain product integrity.

Maintenance

Proper storage is crucial for extending the shelf life of your ZAP Zap-A-Gap adhesive:

  • Always recap the bottle tightly immediately after each use.
  • Store the bottle upright in a cool, dry place.
  • Avoid exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with bonding, consider the following:

  • Insufficient Bond: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free of grease or dust before application. Apply adequate pressure during the 10-15 second hold time.
  • Slow Curing: While Zap-A-Gap is fast-acting, environmental factors like low humidity can affect cure time. Using ZAP Kicker accelerator can significantly speed up the process.
  • Clogged Tip: If the microdropper tip becomes clogged, gently clear it with a pin or replace it if necessary. Do not squeeze the bottle forcefully.
