  2. Positioning: Place the headset on your ear, gently pushing the speaker into the exterior cavity of your ear.

3.2 Pairing with a Bluetooth Device

The SCALA 500 is compatible with Bluetooth 1.1 specification devices supporting Handsfree and Headset profiles. It can be paired with up to 8 different Bluetooth devices.

  1. Initial Pairing: Pair the headset with your first desired Bluetooth device (e.g., mobile phone). Refer to your device's manual for its specific pairing procedure.
  2. Headset Pairing Mode: After pairing with the first device, place the headset into pairing mode again. This is typically indicated by alternating red and blue flashes on the headset's indicator light.
  3. Pairing Additional Devices: Pair the headset with your second Bluetooth device. Repeat this process for up to 8 devices.
  4. Switching Connections: To switch the headset's active connection from one paired device to another, the currently connected device must first disconnect from the headset. This allows another previously paired device to establish a connection.

4. Operating the Headset

The SCALA 500 features intuitive controls for managing calls and audio.

4.1 Call Management

  • Answering/Ending Calls: Use the main control button on the headset to answer or end incoming calls.
  • Voice Dialing: The headset supports voice dialing functionality. Refer to your mobile phone's instructions for enabling and using voice commands.
  • Call Rejection: Incoming calls can be rejected directly from the headset.
  • Mute Function: A mute control is available on the headset.
  • Call Transfer: You can transfer calls between the headset and your mobile phone handset.

4.2 Volume Control

The headset includes dedicated controls for adjusting volume. These controls interface with your phone's volume settings, providing synchronized adjustment.

4.3 WindGuard Technology

The SCALA 500 incorporates Cardo's proprietary WindGuard technology, which significantly reduces wind interference during calls, enhancing audio clarity in various environments.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Charging the Headset

Use the provided charging cradle and AC adapter to recharge the internal battery. The charging cradle is designed for fast recharging. Ensure the headset is correctly seated in the cradle for proper charging.

5.2 Storage and Carrying

5.3 General Care

  • Keep the headset clean and dry.
  • Avoid exposing the headset to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble the headset, as this may void the warranty.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your SCALA 500 headset, consider the following:

  • Headset Not Pairing: If the headset is already powered on but not pairing, turn it off and then on again to re-enter pairing mode.
  • Reconnection Issues: If you pair the headset with a different device while your primary phone is off or out of range, you may need to re-pair it with your primary phone for subsequent use.
  • Poor Audio Quality/Disconnections: Ensure the headset is fully charged and within the Bluetooth range of your connected device (typically up to 33 feet or 10 meters). Obstructions like walls can reduce range.
  • Voice Recognition: If using voice recognition systems, speak clearly and slightly louder than normal if the system struggles to understand commands.
