  • Optimized for easy one-hand control.

Setup

1. Battery Installation

The URC300 remote requires 4 AAA batteries (included). To install:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the remote.
  2. Slide the battery cover off.
  3. Insert 4 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery cover.

Note: The remote retains programming for up to 10 years even when batteries are removed.

2. Initial Device Programming

The URC300 can be programmed using pre-programmed codes or its learning function. Refer to the included DVD tutorial or the detailed manual for specific programming steps for your devices.

  • Using Pre-programmed Codes: Search the code list for your device's brand and model, then enter the corresponding code into the remote.
  • Using Learning Mode: Point your original remote at the URC300 and teach it individual commands. This is useful for devices not found in the code list or for custom functions.

Operating the Remote

1. Device Selection

To control a specific device (e.g., TV, DVD, Cable Box), press the corresponding device button on the remote. The LCD screen will display the selected device.

2. Using the LCD Screen

The LCD screen provides menu-based navigation and displays custom labels for functions. Use the navigation buttons around the LCD to scroll through options and select commands.

3. Macro Functionality

Macros allow you to execute a sequence of commands with a single button press. For example, a macro can turn on your TV, DVD player, and set the input to DVD. Refer to the programming guide for creating and assigning macros.

4. Favorite Channels

Program up to 40 of your favorite channels for quick access. Once programmed, you can access them via the 'FAV' button on the main menu.

5. Backlight

Press the dedicated backlight button on the side of the remote to illuminate the LCD display and all physical buttons. This feature is useful in dimly lit environments.

6. Punch-Thru Feature

The punch-thru feature allows certain buttons (e.g., volume, channel) to control a specific device regardless of the currently selected device. For instance, you can set the volume buttons to always control your audio receiver, even when the remote is set to TV mode.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the remote's performance degrades or the backlight dims, it's time to replace the AAA batteries. Follow the battery installation steps outlined in the Setup section. Your programming will be retained during battery changes.

Cleaning

Wipe the remote with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using liquid cleaners or abrasive materials, as they may damage the remote's finish or electronics.

Troubleshooting

  • Remote not responding: Ensure batteries are correctly installed and have sufficient charge. Try replacing them.
  • Device not responding to commands:
    • Verify the correct device is selected on the remote.
    • Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the device.
    • Re-enter the device code or use the learning function to program commands.
    • Some devices may require trying multiple codes from the provided list.
  • Learning function difficulties: Ensure both remotes have fresh batteries and are positioned correctly during the learning process. Try multiple attempts.
  • Backlight not bright enough: The backlight is most effective in dark environments. Check if there are backlight adjustments available in the remote's settings menu.
  • Macros not working as expected: Review the macro programming steps carefully. Ensure each command in the sequence is correctly learned and timed.
