  3. Close the battery compartment cover.
  4. Place the handset in the base station to charge for at least 6 hours before first use.

4.2. Connecting the Base Station

  3. Place the base station on a flat, stable surface, away from other electronic devices that may cause interference.

4.3. Registering the Handset

Your handset is usually pre-registered to the base station. If not, or if you are adding a new handset:

  1. On the base station, press and hold the registration button (usually marked with a symbol or 'PAGE') for approximately 3 seconds. The base station will enter registration mode.
  2. On the handset, navigate to the 'Settings' or 'Registration' menu.
  3. Select 'Register Handset' and follow the on-screen prompts. You may need to enter a PIN (default is usually 0000).
  4. Once registered, the handset display will show the internal number (e.g., 'Handset 1').

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Making and Receiving Calls

  • Making a Call: Press the green call key, enter the phone number, and press the green call key again.
  • Receiving a Call: When the phone rings, press the green call key to answer.
  • Ending a Call: Press the red end call key.

5.2. Hands-Free Function

During a call, press the hands-free key (often marked with a speaker icon) to activate the speakerphone. Press it again to switch back to the earpiece.

5.3. Display and Navigation

The Gigaset CX340 features a backlit display for clear visibility. Use the navigation button (usually a central circular button with directional arrows) to scroll through menus and options. The soft keys below the display change function depending on the current menu.

5.4. Caller ID

If subscribed to Caller ID service, the incoming caller's number or name will be displayed on the handset screen before you answer the call.

5.5. Multi-Line Operation (ISDN)

The ISDN capability allows for multi-line operation, meaning you can manage multiple calls simultaneously. Refer to your ISDN service provider's instructions for specific features like call waiting, call forwarding, and conference calls, which can be accessed via the phone's menu.

5.6. Countdown Timer

The integrated countdown timer can be set for various purposes. Access this feature through the handset's menu, typically under 'Tools' or 'Organizer'. Set the desired time, and the phone will alert you when the countdown finishes.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the handset and base station with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
