  1. Unpack the Urn: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the urn for any damage. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the urn interior, lid, and spigot thoroughly with warm, soapy water. Rinse well and dry. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
  3. Placement: Place the coffee urn on a stable, flat, heat-resistant surface, away from the edge of the counter and out of reach of children. Ensure there is adequate ventilation around the unit.
  4. Power Connection: Ensure the power cord is not damaged. Plug the urn into a standard 120V AC electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Fill with Water: Remove the lid. Fill the urn with cold, fresh water up to the desired level indicated on the interior markings or the exterior level indicator. Do not overfill or underfill.
  2. Add Coffee Grounds: Place a suitable filter (reusable or paper) into the percolator stem basket. Add the appropriate amount of regular grind coffee for the number of cups of water added. For best results, follow coffee packaging recommendations. Do not use fine grind coffee as it may clog the filter.
  3. Assemble: Place the percolator stem with the basket onto the heating element inside the urn. Secure the lid firmly.
  4. Begin Brewing: Plug the urn into a grounded electrical outlet. The 'POWER' indicator light will illuminate. The brewing process will begin automatically.
  5. Brewing Cycle: Coffee will begin to perk within minutes. The brewing cycle typically takes about 45-60 minutes for a full urn. Avoid removing the lid during brewing to prevent heat loss and potential scalding.
  6. Ready Indicator: Once brewing is complete, the 'READY' indicator light will illuminate, and the urn will automatically switch to the 'keep warm' function.
  7. Dispensing Coffee: Place a cup under the spigot. Push down the lever to dispense coffee. Release the lever to stop.
  8. Keep Warm Function: The urn will maintain the coffee at an ideal serving temperature until unplugged.

5. Cleaning and Maintenance

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee urn.

Daily Cleaning:

  1. Unplug and Cool: Always unplug the urn from the outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Discard Grounds: Remove the lid, percolator stem, and filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds.
  3. Wash Components: Wash the lid, percolator stem, and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
  4. Clean Interior: Wash the interior of the urn with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth or sponge. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue.
  5. Clean Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the urn with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the urn in water or other liquids.
  6. Clean Spigot: Ensure the spigot is clean and free of coffee residue. You may need to run warm water through it.

Descaling (Monthly or as needed):

Mineral deposits from water can build up over time, affecting performance. Descale your urn regularly.

  2. Place the percolator stem and basket (without coffee) into the urn and secure the lid.
  3. Plug in the urn and allow it to complete a full brewing cycle.
  4. Unplug the urn and let the solution sit for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Empty the urn and rinse thoroughly with fresh water several times to remove all vinegar odor and taste.
  6. Run two full cycles with fresh water only to ensure complete rinsing.
