3. Setup

1. Locate Sustain Input: Identify the 1/4-inch sustain pedal input on your electronic keyboard, digital piano, synthesizer, or MIDI controller. This port is typically labeled "Sustain" or "Pedal".
2. Connect the Pedal: Insert the 1/4-inch phone plug of the M-Audio SP-1 pedal firmly into the sustain input port of your instrument.
3. Adjust Polarity (if necessary): The SP-1 features a polarity switch located on the side of the pedal. If the sustain effect is inverted (e.g., sustain is on when the pedal is up, and off when pressed down), flip this switch to the opposite position. Test the pedal to ensure correct operation.

4. Operation

The M-Audio SP-1 functions as a momentary sustain pedal. When the pedal is pressed down, it sends a signal to your instrument to sustain the notes being played. When the pedal is released, the sustain effect is disengaged.

• Press and Hold: To sustain notes, press and hold the pedal down while playing.
• Release: Release the pedal to stop the sustain effect.
• Non-Latching Action: The pedal is non-latching, meaning it only sustains notes while physically held down.
