- High Level In/Out (From Amplifier / To Speakers): These terminals allow connection to the speaker outputs of your main amplifier or receiver. They also provide a pass-through connection to your main speakers.
- Low Level Input (R/L): RCA jacks for connecting to the line-level subwoofer output (LFE) of your receiver or preamplifier.
- Gain: This knob controls the overall output volume of the subwoofer amplifier. It also functions as the power switch; turn it fully counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position to power down the unit.
- Freq (Crossover Frequency): This knob adjusts the low-pass crossover frequency from 60 Hz to 180 Hz, allowing you to blend the subwoofer's output with your main speakers.
- Power Indicator: A green LED that illuminates when the amplifier is powered on.
- Power Input: Connect the included AC power cord here.
- Fuse: Contains a replaceable fuse for circuit protection. Ensure to replace with the correct type (0.63A 250V) if needed.
Setup
- Mounting: The SA25 is designed to be mounted into a subwoofer enclosure. Ensure the cutout dimensions are appropriate for a secure fit. This unit is not suitable for in-wall mounting.
- Speaker Connection: Connect your subwoofer driver to the internal speaker output terminals of the SA25 amplifier. Observe correct polarity (+ to + and - to -).
- Input Connection (Choose ONE method):
- Low Level Input (Recommended): If your receiver or preamplifier has a dedicated subwoofer (LFE) output, connect an RCA cable from that output to the "Low Level Input" (R or L) on the SA25. For mono LFE output, either input can be used.
- High Level Input: If your receiver does not have a dedicated subwoofer output, connect the speaker outputs of your main amplifier/receiver to the "High Level In/Out (From Amplifier)" terminals. Then, connect your main speakers to the "High Level In/Out (To Speakers)" terminals. Ensure correct polarity.
- Power Connection: Once all audio connections are made, connect the AC power cord to the amplifier's power input and then to a standard 120VAC 60Hz wall outlet.
Operating Instructions
- Power On/Off: Turn the "Gain" knob clockwise from the "OFF" position to power on the amplifier. The green power indicator LED will illuminate. To power off, turn the "Gain" knob fully counter-clockwise to the "OFF" position.
- Initial Settings:
- Set the "Gain" knob to its minimum (fully counter-clockwise, just past the "OFF" click).
- Set the "Freq" (crossover frequency) knob to its lowest setting (60 Hz).
- Adjusting Volume (Gain): Play some audio with bass content. Slowly increase the "Gain" knob until the subwoofer's output blends smoothly with your main speakers. Avoid setting the gain too high, which can lead to distortion.
- Adjusting Crossover Frequency (Freq): Adjust the "Freq" knob to control the upper frequency limit of the subwoofer. This setting should complement the low-frequency capabilities of your main speakers. A good starting point is often around 80 Hz, but adjust to achieve the most seamless transition between your subwoofer and main speakers.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the amplifier's surface. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Fuse Replacement: If the amplifier does not power on, check the fuse. Disconnect the power cord before attempting to replace the fuse. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to open the fuse holder. Replace with a fuse of the exact same type and rating (0.63A 250V).
- Internal Components: The amplifier contains no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not open the unit. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
