1. Product Overview
The Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 is a 10-inch undersink carbon block water filter cartridge designed to reduce various contaminants from drinking water. This filter is certified by IAPMO R&T against NSF/ANSI 53 for the reduction of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS), and NSF/ANSI 42/53 for lead, chlorine taste and odor, Giardia, and Cryptosporidium cysts. It also reduces extra fine sediment down to 0.5 microns.
This cartridge is compatible with OMNIFilter CBF1, CBF3, OT32, and USM2 Under Sink filter housings, as well as other standard 10-inch housings.

3. Installation (Filter Replacement)
This section provides general guidelines for replacing your Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 cartridge. Always refer to your specific filter housing's manual for detailed instructions.
- Prepare the Area: Place a bucket or towels under the filter housing to catch any spilled water.
- Turn Off Water Supply: Locate and turn off the cold water supply valve leading to your undersink filter system.
- Relieve Pressure: Open the filtered water faucet to relieve pressure from the system. Allow water to drain until it stops.
- Remove Old Cartridge: Use a filter wrench (if provided with your housing) to unscrew the filter housing sump. Carefully remove the old filter cartridge.
- Clean Housing: Clean the inside of the filter housing sump with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly. Inspect the O-ring for any cracks or wear; replace if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with a small amount of food-grade silicone grease or vegetable oil to ensure a good seal.
- Insert New Cartridge: Remove the new Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 cartridge from its packaging. Insert it into the filter housing sump, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Reassemble Housing: Screw the filter housing sump back onto the cap. Hand-tighten until snug. Do not overtighten. A slight turn with the filter wrench may be needed to ensure a leak-free seal, but excessive force can damage the housing.
- Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the cold water supply valve. Check for leaks around the filter housing.
- Flush the System: Open the filtered water faucet and let water run for at least 5 minutes to flush out any carbon fines and air from the system. The water may appear cloudy initially; this is normal.
After flushing, the filter is ready for use. It is recommended to write the installation date on the filter or a nearby label for future reference.
4. Operation
Once installed and flushed, the Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 operates continuously to filter your cold water supply. The filter works by passing water through its carbon block media, which traps sediment and adsorbs chemical contaminants, improving taste and odor.
Ensure that the water pressure and flow rate are within the recommended limits for your specific filter housing system to ensure optimal performance and filter life.
5. Maintenance
Regular replacement of the filter cartridge is crucial for maintaining water quality and system performance.
- Replacement Schedule: Replace the Pentair OMNIFilter CB3 cartridge every 6 months or after filtering 400 gallons, whichever comes first.
- Indicators for Replacement: You may need to replace the filter sooner if you notice a significant drop in water pressure or a return of undesirable tastes or odors in your filtered water. These are signs that the filter media is becoming saturated or clogged.
