4. Setup

  1. Collect a urine sample in a clean, dry container. First morning urine is recommended as it typically contains the highest concentration of hCG.
  2. Remove the test strip from its sealed foil pouch just prior to testing.
  3. Ensure the test strip and urine sample are at room temperature before use.

5. Operating Instructions

  1. Immerse the strip into the urine sample with the arrow pointing towards the urine.
  2. Do not immerse past the MAX line.
  3. Take the strip out after 5-10 seconds.
  4. Lay the strip flat on a clean, dry, non-absorbent surface.
  5. Wait for the colored lines to appear. Read the result in 3-5 minutes. Do not read results after 5 minutes, as this may lead to inaccurate readings (e.g., evaporation lines).

6. Interpreting Results

The appearance of colored lines in the test window indicates the result. Always read results within the 3-5 minute timeframe.

Positive Result (Pregnant):

Two distinct colored lines appear. One line should be in the Control (C) region and another line in the Test (T) region. The intensity of the T line may vary depending on the concentration of hCG in the urine.

Negative Result (Not Pregnant):

Only one colored line appears in the Control (C) region. No apparent colored line appears in the Test (T) region.

Invalid Result:

No colored line appears in the Control (C) region, or only a line appears in the Test (T) region. This indicates insufficient sample volume or incorrect procedural techniques. Review the instructions and repeat the test with a new strip.

7. Maintenance & Storage

  • Store the test strips in their original sealed pouches at room temperature (4-30°C or 39-86°F).
  • Protect from moisture, heat, and direct sunlight.
  • Do not store in the refrigerator or freezer.

8. Troubleshooting

No Control Line Appears:

If no control line appears, the test is invalid. This could be due to insufficient urine sample, incorrect procedure, or a damaged test strip. Discard the test and repeat with a new strip, ensuring all steps are followed correctly.

Faint Test Line:

A faint test line, even if very light, still indicates a positive result. The intensity of the line can vary with the concentration of hCG. If you are testing very early in pregnancy, the hCG levels may be low. You may wish to retest in 48-72 hours with first morning urine, as hCG levels typically double every two days in early pregnancy.

Evaporation Lines:

Evaporation lines can sometimes appear after the recommended reading time (5 minutes). These are colorless lines caused by the evaporation of urine and should not be interpreted as positive results. Always read the test within the specified timeframe.
